How to dig a pond in a swimming area. How to make a swimming pond in the garden

You should immediately warn those who want to have a pond for fishing and swimming in their dacha. This is a rather complex structure; its construction should be undertaken carefully; the desire to “create a magnificent landscape design” is not enough. This refers to a fairly large body of water, not a decorative one.

Pond at the dacha for fish farming and swimming

What will be needed for construction?

  1. Availability of special earth-moving equipment and trucks for transporting earth. There will be quite a large amount of it, the specific volumes depend on the size and depth of the pond. For swimming and breeding fish, the depth must be at least two meters; multiply this figure by the length and width and find out the volume of the soil.
  2. The ability to continuously supply fresh water to the pond and consider a way to drain the runoff. Without a constant change of water, the most beautiful pond will turn into a green, stinking puddle in a few years; cleaning it out or, in extreme cases, filling it up is a big problem.
  3. Significant financial resources. They will be needed not only for the construction of the reservoir, but also for maintaining it in proper condition.

If you have no problems on all counts, you can begin construction. We will tell you in as much detail as possible about all the existing rules and requirements; each owner of a country plot must independently decide what to do: take into account the existing requirements and be guaranteed to have a real functional pond, or act at your own peril and risk, build “at random”.

How to make a pond with your own hands

Technical requirements for the construction of ponds

The pond at the dacha for breeding fish and swimming is quite large in size, and this is already a real hydraulic structure in its complexity, requiring a competent approach.

Pond diagram

Before the immediate start of construction work, the following problems need to be solved:

When the preliminary questions are clear, you can begin to sketch the reservoir and draw up a water supply and drainage diagram.

How to draw a sketch

When you do not have the slightest experience and knowledge, it is better to seek help from specialists. Their services will cost much less than correcting mistakes.

Water purification measures, filtration prevention

Seepage protection is carried out when the pond is dug in light soils. In addition, the issue of drainage of melt water should be resolved if it can enter through the sides or from a spring at the bottom. The internal surfaces of the reservoir can be protected using a traditional compacted clay screen or concrete with special additives. Today, there are newer materials on sale: rubberized films, synthetic mats with dry clay powder inside, etc. A specific choice must be made taking into account the financial capabilities and characteristics of the soil.

Over time, the water in the reservoir becomes contaminated with various mechanical deposits. The maximum damage is caused by clay particles entering through the active aquifer pores of the soil. In the most difficult cases, siltation can amount to up to ten centimeters per year. To eliminate such negative consequences, gravel-sand cushions can be poured onto the bottom or non-woven synthetic filter materials can be used.

The percentage of oxygen in water is very important; aeration should be used to maintain values within the recommended parameters (if there is no other way to exchange water). There is another option for aeration - making a decorative fountain, but this method can significantly increase the estimated cost of construction work.

Additional structures for water replenishment of the pond

For reservoirs that are built on a river or stream, this problem is solved by nature. All you need to do is install a small dam to hold back the water flow and release the excess. To prevent pollution from the river from reaching the surface, you need to install ordinary lattice filters. If there are fish in the pond, then the same gratings should be installed on the drainage system, they will prevent the fish from leaving. Dams simultaneously release maximum water flows during floods or spring snowmelt. Metal or concrete pipes can be used as spillway structures; the diameter is selected taking into account the maximum debit of the water flow.

An example of a pond built on a stream

Significant problems can arise when it is necessary to clean the bottom of the pond. It will not be possible to drain the water completely; it will have to be pumped out with powerful pumps. Again, recusal issues need to be resolved. The pumped water should not flood existing buildings and neighbors on the dacha site.

Bottom drainage

Scheme of a possible drainage for a pond

An important characteristic for any pond is the water exchange rate. Indicators depend on hydrological features. Scientific data indicate that for large-volume reservoirs it is possible to reduce the frequency of water exchange; the system is able to cope with cleaning on its own. Reservoirs into which water comes from a river or stream (dams) do not require any effort. For all other ponds, it will be necessary to make forced water exchange systems with pumps or purify the water using biological and mechanical methods. The power of the pumps and the amount of water depends on the volume and purpose of the structure.

Table of water exchange coefficients

When natural water change is impossible to ensure for various reasons, you will have to use mechanical and biological methods of water purification, which we will talk about below.

How to purify water without water exchange

If the pond is quite large, then water purification occurs to a large extent naturally by microorganisms and plants. But there are times when these cleaners do not have time to cope with the assigned tasks, the owners have to solve the problem using other methods.

If you do not comply with the requirements for maintaining the water in proper condition, then in a few years a beautiful stocked pond will turn into a pit with stinking water.

Special hydraulic structures

At the beginning of the article, we already said that the exclusion of flooding of the foundations of existing buildings must be provided for at the stage of planning the location of the pond. But there are cases when the landscape features of a summer cottage, the physical characteristics of the soil or the proximity of groundwater do not allow one to avoid flooding with “little blood”, it is necessary to build special hydraulic structures.

Maintaining the water regime of the dacha plot and draining filtration water outside the plot is done by drainage - a rather complex structure from a technical point of view. Ponds can have a low water level (the mirror is located below ground level) or high. In the first case, drainage water can be diverted back into the pond, and the excess is removed using an ordinary drainage system. Disadvantages of this method: a fairly large distance between the ground and water levels and very extended systems. The issue can be resolved by installing intermediate wells. In the second case, you need to make a separate ring drainage for the pond; it will intercept the filtration water and divert it to the collection tank. Used on heavy, heavily waterlogged soils.

We have specifically tried to provide the most complete information on the construction of ponds in compliance with all the requirements of building codes and regulations. Each developer has the right to independently decide whether to build a pond taking into account the developed recommendations and not worry about its functionality or simplify some technologies.

Information about construction technology is available, there is no problem in choosing and getting acquainted with the desired pond option. We will give some general practical tips that will be useful in all cases.

We strongly recommend that you begin constructing a pond before the construction of the main dacha buildings begins. Firstly, the fertile layer of soil can be usefully used in another area. Secondly, the work of earthmoving equipment and trucks will cause less damage to the landscape.

Start building a pond before landscaping the dacha area

If the land is sandy, then it is better to concrete the bottom; flexible waterproofing materials do not have sufficient physical strength and will not be able to prevent the banks from collapsing. During concreting, it should be borne in mind that two types of forces will act: on the outside the earth will crumble, on the inside the bowl will burst with ice in winter. It is highly advisable to use metal mesh reinforcement during concreting.

Forming a pond bowl with reinforcement

The principle of concreting a pond with reinforcement

The swimming area must have reinforced shore protection. If various films are used for waterproofing, they can be damaged by swimmers. Special ladders must be installed at the points of entry/exit from the water.

Coastline strengthening

Places for installing additional equipment and drains should be provided when working with the bowl. Exits are installed in technological areas, more thorough waterproofing is done, etc.

Stages of constructing a concrete pond

The fish in the pond will have to be fed; natural food is not enough for it. Feeding is an unnecessary burden on the ecology of the pond; it will not be possible to accurately calculate the amount of feed. This means that water purification systems must be more powerful and efficient.

Do-it-yourself swimming pond in the country

Introduction

When you have your own house or summer cottage, it is absolutely natural that you want to improve it, create your own unique style and landscape design. However, the real dream of any homeowner is a personal pond that will not only please the eye, but will also allow you to enjoy its charm, so to speak, from the inside. A swimming pool immediately appears, but there is a worthy alternative. You can build a swimming pond on the territory near your house with your own hands.

Differences between a DIY swimming pond and a swimming pool

An ignorant person might assume that a swimming pool and a bathing pond are practically the same thing. However, there are a number of significant differences. Moreover, the comparison will be in favor of the pond.

From a practicality point of view, it should be noted that organizing a pond for fishing and swimming at the dacha will be significantly cheaper and will not require much effort. Although, of course, this is also not the easiest thing and will require certain energy and financial costs.

The main advantage of a pond is its natural beauty, which will be an ideal addition to the garden composition and will be the highlight of any landscape. Unlike a swimming pool, a pond at the dacha looks bright, interesting and original every season. In addition to swimming, it also performs a decorative function.

The positive thing is that the swimming pond will be used all year round. In the spring, the pond will delight the owner with aquatic flowers and set the mood for a romantic mood; in the summer and early autumn, you can swim in the pond; in winter, it will make a wonderful skating rink.

Thanks to the water filtration system, the country pond does not require chemical cleaning, which distinguishes it from a swimming pool.

Each owner of a garden area makes the choice between creating a pond for fish and swimming in a dacha or a swimming pool for himself. The main thing is that all the features that apply to a country pond are taken into account. Do not forget that a reservoir on the territory requires not only careful care, but also a responsible attitude towards it. In particular, safety measures should be provided if there are small children in the family.

Types of ponds for fish and swimming in the country

Based on the complexity of arranging a country swimming pond, in general, one-volume and two-volume reservoirs can be distinguished. But this is a very vague idea, and therefore the complete classification looks like this:

  • single-volume, in the absence of zoning and any technical means,
  • single-volume, with surface flow,
  • single-volume, with flow-through recovery zone,
  • two-volume,
  • two-volume, with a full-fledged water purification device.

Each type of reservoir is interesting and unusual in its own way. But in order to understand how and what type of pond to make for swimming at the dacha, you need to understand what each of them is.

The first type of swimming pond is suitable for a large area, since it requires a lot of space to create it. The function of water purification in such a reservoir is carried out by microorganisms, plants, and zooplankton. Accordingly, most of it will be allocated to the “revival” zone, which will be filled with all kinds of natural biofilters. The advantage of this pond is its natural appearance and feeling of naturalness.

The second type of reservoir also appears to be a single basin, without division into regions, without partitions or similar divisions. However, water purification occurs using special equipment - a skimmer. A pump is used to pump water. Convenient for expanding the swimming area, but maintaining the impression of wild nature.

The third type is distinguished by a volumetric swimming area, which is larger than in the first options. Ideal for lovers of long swims and active movement in the water. The pond is divided into areas by partitions that are level with the water surface, without rising above it. In this case, water regeneration is carried out both by plants and microorganisms, and by the skimmer. A multi-level system is used.

A two-volume pond involves separating the bathing area from the water treatment area, which makes relaxation in such a reservoir comfortable and enjoyable. It differs from previous types in the presence of automation for cleaning, control devices, as well as a gravel filter and a water pumping system.

In the fifth option, a clear zoning was carried out between the swimming zone and the filtration area. Regeneration of the reservoir is carried out using technology, as well as the “plant” method, using metering and control devices, biofilters, and a control system for water supply and pumping.

Based on financial capabilities, the size of the dacha plot and personal wishes, it is worth making a choice of the pond to be built.

Do-it-yourself sketch of the future pond at the dacha

Before you start building a fish pond (as well as swimming) at your dacha, you need to imagine what this pond will be like, what you want to get as a result, and how its design will fit organically into the landscape of the site.

But how to make a sketch of a future pond if there is no special knowledge in this matter and related experience. The best solution would be to seek the help of specialists. Ultimately, paying for the services of a person with the necessary knowledge will be much cheaper than correcting your own mistakes made due to insufficient competence.

However, if you have certain skills and a great desire to participate in the creative process, then you can try to create a sketch yourself. It will be correct to adhere to a certain plan:

  1. It is necessary to draw the future pond from different angles, make a top view, as well as a sectional view. The area of the reservoir will depend on the intended depth. The greater the planned depth, the wider the pond should be made. The sketch must indicate the size of the reservoir, its shape, the steepness of the slopes, and the water heating zone.
  1. In addition to the drawing, it is important to draw a detailed diagram that shows not only the location of the pipes, but also the depth of the trenches and water circulation depending on the type of pond.
  2. Another element of the sketch is the display of the beach area, the regeneration zone of the reservoir, as well as decorative components.

Choosing a place for a bath

It is necessary to select a place for an artificial pond taking into account all the features of the garden area. It is good to organize a swimming pond at your dacha with your own hands directly next to the house, since in this case it is convenient to connect communications to the pond. It is advisable to find an area that is not too shaded, but not too sunny. Due to an excess of sun, the pond will begin to bloom. And if it is surrounded by trees, then falling leaves can damage the transfer pump and water supply equipment.

An important point in choosing a suitable location is the size of the site, its shape, soil, and the presence of groundwater. Unevenness in the ground, a depression, holes or something similar can be turned into an advantage and turned into a multi-level pond. A flat area will allow you to create a reservoir of any shape and depth, if groundwater does not interfere with this.

A special feature when choosing the shape of a pond for fish and swimming at the dacha will be the specific soil, sandy or sandy loam. Here you will have to deal with additional strengthening of the banks. There are two methods to perform this task:

  • rigid waterproofing,
  • construction of gentle slopes using film.

Each of these options has positive and negative factors that will help you decide what is more profitable to do in a particular area. Thus, the advantages of rigid waterproofing are its durability, strength, ease of installation, as well as operation and cleaning. However, there are also some disadvantages, which include the inability to change the shape of the pond, the high cost of the structure and its susceptibility to natural influences.

In relation to a bathhouse that digs on its own, one can find such advantages as changing the shape of the reservoir if desired, a natural appearance, and adaptation to temperature changes. But, of course, there are also negative aspects, which are considered to be the need for a large area, since due to the flat banks the area of the pond increases significantly, the fragility of the film system, and the arrangement of slopes out of the blue.

Not the least important factor when choosing a place for a pond is groundwater, which can also affect its creation. After all, if groundwater lies on the territory close to the surface, at a depth of up to one meter, then a natural lake can be organized. If the waters are deeper, for example, from two to three meters, then this should be taken into account when strengthening the bottom and banks. It is ideal when they are at a depth of five meters or more, since then you can safely dig a pond two or three meters deep and not worry about additional reinforcement.

How to make a swimming pond at your dacha. Peculiarities

A backyard swimming pond is always quite large in size, and this a priori presupposes a rather complex hydraulic mechanism for the proper use of water resources.

It is important to determine how water will flow, methods of drainage, and preferred vegetation. It is necessary to conditionally divide the reservoir into zones. Select shallow-water, deep-water, regeneration, beach, decorative.

The work involves the following stages:

  1. Creating a project (this means exactly what was described above, namely thinking about the location, size and configuration of the future reservoir).
  2. Development of an estimate (for independent work, you must at least make an approximate calculation, taking into account the price of materials and accessories).
  3. Marking and digging a pit.
  4. Laying waterproofing and installing treatment equipment.
  5. Decorating the pond and filling it with water.

Once the action plan has been outlined, you can begin work directly.

Ditch for a swimming pond

Work on digging a pit can be carried out on your own, or you can use specialized equipment. Here the method of work depends on the scale and volume of the pond. If you are planning a not very large reservoir, not exceeding one meter in depth and ten square meters in width, then it makes no sense to involve an excavator and other special equipment. But when the depth is calculated to be 2-2.5 m, and the width is more than 10 m, then digging a pit by hand will become very energy-intensive and will take at least a month, subject to intensive labor throughout the daylight hours.

First you need to mark the area of the future pond. To do this, you need to drive stakes around the perimeter and stretch a bright ribbon. After these simple manipulations, you can start digging. It is worth digging from the center or the deepest place to the shores, otherwise it is possible that you will not maintain the intended depth. In addition, you need to dig with a reserve of at least 10 cm, due to the fact that geotextiles and sand-gravel mixture, which also take up a certain space, will be compacted to the bottom.

It should be borne in mind that digging a large hole does not limit the work on preparing the pit. An essential role is played by the provision of measures to prevent the drainage of water from the pond. After all, if you don’t think through this point, then there is a high probability that the entire plot of land will be flooded. Accordingly, it is necessary to properly prepare the bottom of the reservoir. In this case, the bottom is the entire surface covered by water.

Butyl rubber film or PVC is used as waterproofing throughout the construction site. In this case, at a distance of 35-55 cm from the edge of the pit, a small groove with dimensions of approximately 30x30 cm is dug to secure the material. The bottom of the pond is made smooth with smooth transitions of heights; in some cases, a stepped device is preferred. The pit itself should not have steep banks, and the slope should be no more than 40 degrees, even better than 30 degrees.

Waterproofing material

When there are sandy and sandy loam soils on the site, the waterproofing must be constructed from clay or loam 30 cm thick. For convenience, you can use a rigid ready-made form. Also in sandy areas, making concrete insulation is applicable, although this is a costly and time-consuming method, but the structure is one of the most durable and durable. Modern and effective material – liquid rubber. Comfortable due to its elasticity.

Laying waterproofing material

First, the material from which the waterproofing will be constructed is determined. Next, small pebbles or crushed stone are laid. Another layer of about 5 cm will be sand, which must be compacted well. Then you can line the pit with film. The film is laid with an excess of 40 cm and again sprinkled with sand quite generously, in a layer of at least 50 cm. A new layer of 80 cm will be made of crushed stone or pebbles, and if desired, sand can again be poured on top of it. After completing these procedures, the pond is ready to be filled with water. Naturally, when using a ready-made rigid form, the procedure is simplified.

Pump installation

A submersible pump is installed at the bottom of the pond, from which pipes are pulled to the source and connected to a filter for water purification. The pump is needed to create circulation of water, which is pumped into the filter and returned back after purification.

Installing a pump in a pond means that in general it is ready for use and all that remains is to decorate it and design it to your liking.

Pumps are divided into two types: submersible and centrifugal. The submersible is located at the bottom of the reservoir, and the centrifugal is located outside, below the water level.

Decorating a swimming pond

The decor of a personal pond can be designed according to the owner’s preferences. The design is not limited only to stones and aquatic plants, there are all kinds of ways and ideas for decoration, for example, alpine slides, fountains, waterfall decoration, and beautiful statues and figures are also used as an addition. The main thing is that everything is harmoniously combined and there are not too many elements, as this creates a feeling of overload and blurs the impression.

Pond care

Maintaining a swimming pond is not difficult if the filtration system and pumps have been installed correctly. When installed correctly, water circulation is established, the filter cleans it, and all processes function properly. All that remains is to monitor the water level in the reservoir. In case of increased heat, you need to replenish the pond in time with the amount of water that has evaporated. In case of excessive precipitation, excess water must be pumped out using a pump, and if a drainage well has been provided, then this task is simplified.

Every month it is worth inspecting the pond and, if necessary, cleaning the pond. Periodically clean the pond and filters from algae and debris. And in the autumn, you can stretch the mesh to avoid falling foliage.

Pond filtration

There are many methods of water purification. One of the most effective, but not cheap, is considered to be a device for water disinfection with silver. However, a system consisting of a filter, ionizer, UV lamp, pump and skimmer is more often used.

I would like to pay special attention to the filtration system. Filters are divided into flow (gravity), pressure and belt. Flow filters primarily perform mechanical cleaning, however, they have sponges for removing contamination and additives that clean the water. Pressure and belt filters typically contain UV lamps to disinfect water.

Cleaning

An artificial swimming pond, like other bodies of water, tends to become dirty over time. This could be some kind of mechanical waste or particles of clay, algae, or fallen leaves that were not removed in a timely manner. To combat the negative impact of debris, use a sand-gravel bed or non-woven synthetic filter materials. Naturally, the filtration system and pumps for pumping water make their contribution to the cleaning of the bath.

To keep the bath clean, it is important to maintain the correct oxygen content in the water, for which aeration is used. Sometimes a fountain can be built for such a purpose, the issue is finances. However, this method also solves a decorative issue.

Water purification without water exchange

In large ponds, water purification occurs naturally, thanks to plants and microorganisms. However, this method does not always help to cope completely. To purify water without water exchange, use:

  • Mechanical filters (gravel-sand bed)
  • Chemical filters (increases the oxygen content in water, which helps purify the water)
  • Sterilization of water (destruction of all kinds of bacteria)
  • Microbiological method (bacteria that decompose organic impurities)

Additional water recharge facilities

If a personal reservoir is built on a river or stream, then nature itself decides the issue of water replenishment. The only thing that matters is the equipment of the dam, which will control the water level; periodically it will be necessary to release it. Simple mesh filters will help remove pollution from a river or stream. Concrete or metal pipes are used as spillway structures, which is very helpful during floods.

There are no problems with reservoirs into which water comes from the outside, that is, from rivers, streams, and which are blocked by a dam. In other cases, it is necessary to make additional water exchanges using pumps or carry out cleaning using mechanical and biological methods.

Mistakes when constructing a reservoir

When building your own swimming pond, the following mistakes are sometimes made:

  1. The location for the pond was chosen incorrectly (in this situation, the easiest way is to fill in the pond and make it in another place).
  2. Inappropriate time (if you build a bathhouse at random in any season, then there is a high risk that in other seasons the level of groundwater will change, which will cause harm in the future, which means that it is correct to first track how groundwater behaves at different times or redo all work upon their discovery).
  3. Oversized (difficulties are solved by selecting unpretentious plants, installing powerful and strong pumps and filters).
  4. Saving on materials (the decision comes down to the principle “the miser pays twice”, that is, you will have to carry out restoration work and purchase a quality product for repairs)
  5. Failure to comply with safety (if the banks are too steep, they can be cut off, for example, with a shovel; install fences for children, strengthen decorative stones)
  6. Lack of water drainage (you will have to dig an additional trench or install a special pump)
  7. Ugly or overloaded decor (you should seek help from specialists)
  8. Selecting the wrong plants for the pond (remove all fast-growing plants that take up too much space, replace with unpretentious types of oxygen-generating plants).
  9. Inappropriate equipment (if the equipment that is installed does not cope with its tasks, then it should be replaced with a more powerful one).

An example of the construction of a bathhouse on the site

For example, you should use the simplest version of a country swimming pond. Film will be used as waterproofing. At the beginning of the work, we clarify the groundwater level and, based on this, determine the depth of the pond. We mark and fence off the area where the pit will be dug. After which we get down to business directly, simultaneously digging terraces and ledges. The width of the terrace is approximately 40 cm, and the slope will be 45-50 degrees.

The next steps are:

  1. When the pit is ready, its bottom is covered with sand and durable material is laid.
  2. The entrance to the water is prepared in the form of steps or smooth descents
  3. The film is laid taking into account all the features of the landscape
  4. The pond must be filled with water in three stages: water is poured into a third, settled for 2-3 hours, the procedure is repeated until it is completely filled, so that the film stretches gradually
  5. The excess edges of the film are removed, and the decoration of the reservoir begins with stones, which should press the film. In addition, it is allowed to lay the bottom of the pond with stones.
  6. Only those plants that are used for cleaning should be left near the pond. Arrowhead or yellow iris is suitable and planted along the borders of the pond.

Conclusion

Having your own swimming pond is not a dream, but an achievable reality. You just need to make some effort, choose a convenient place and equip the pond with a high-quality pump and filter. The pleasure that a personal font will give cannot be compared with any work or expense, and the time spent with it will give you vivid emotions and impressions.

Phased construction of swimming ponds in the country

  • A little about the choice of materials for waterproofing
  • Stage 2. Preparation for construction and drawing up estimates
  • Stage 5. Decorating the pond
  • Our related services

Having your own swimming pool at your dacha is not a luxury, but only an additional opportunity to provide yourself with an excellent summer vacation. This object will attract not only you and your household, but will also delight all friends and acquaintances who come to visit you. A swimming pond often does not require fabulous investments; its cost is quite reasonable and affordable for owners of country cottages near Moscow.

There are dozens of options for the design and design of swimming ponds in the country. With your own hands or with the help of specialists, you can create both a pond of modest size, designed only for immersion in water, and a large pool in which several people can swim at once without feeling any discomfort. Today we will tell you how to build such a hydraulic structure at your dacha.

Stages of construction of a swimming pond

All work on creating a swimming pond can be divided into 5 stages.

1. Design of a structure (usually this concept includes careful consideration of the location, area and shape of the object).

2. Drawing up an estimate (in the case of independent work, you still need to at least approximately calculate the costs by making an estimate of the cost of materials, tools and services that you plan to use).

3. Marking and digging a pit (you can do it yourself or hire special equipment).

4. Laying waterproofing and installing treatment equipment (the type of waterproofing must be provided for at the initial stage of constructing a swimming pond at the dacha).

Let's consider all these stages in detail.

Stage 1. Designing a pool (choosing a location, shape and design)

You can build a swimming pond at your dacha that is as similar as possible to a natural body of water. The main principle of creating such an object is the allocation of 2 zones: for swimming and decorative. The decorative part usually also represents a special zone for water purification - a bioplato. We'll talk about it in more detail below.

At the planning stage, you should determine how harmoniously the pond will fit into the landscape and design of the dacha. If it is located on a flat area, it may be necessary to introduce some dynamism into the design of the swimming pond, for example, build an elevated alpine slide, a waterfall, or provide a fountain near it. If the area has differences in elevation, it is quite possible to get by with a simple-shaped hydraulic structure located in one of the natural depressions.

Take into account the depth of groundwater, the terrain and the nature of the soil. This determines not only the available depth of the pond, but also how easy it will be to maintain the pond. For example, if the aquifer lies deeper than 5 m, you can dig a pool up to 2.5 m deep, but if the water is at a depth of about 3 m, then the available depth will be less, and the banks will most likely need to be further strengthened.

Remember that the larger the pond, the more it will cost. Therefore, weigh your budget against your desires. You should not be guided by the principle “the main thing is to start construction, and the money can be invested gradually.” If you do not have at least the majority of the amount for construction, it is better not to start it, since too long periods of time between stages of work can affect its quality.

A little about bioplateau for water purification

A swimming pond at the dacha differs from an ordinary decorative pond in that it is subject to higher requirements regarding the purity of the water. There should not be any harmful microorganisms here, since they will settle on the skin every time and can get on the mucous membrane, causing negative reactions. That is why two main water purification schemes have been developed.

1) Standard swimming pools without plants and with blue transparent water are cleaned not only with filters, but also with chemicals based on chlorine, bromine, active oxygen and other substances.

2) Swimming pools in a natural style (with aquatic plants) cannot be cleaned with reagents, so a separate solution has been invented for them - a bioplato.

A bioplateau is a special regeneration zone in which plants and friendly bacteria act on the water, trapping and eliminating pesticides, particulate matter and other substances. This is a kind of more natural filter, the creation of which will not cost much, but which will play a very important role in improving the sanitary and hygienic parameters of the pond. The bioplato is arranged directly in the pool in shallow water or nearby in the form of a small pond. The area of the bioplato must be at least 15% of the area of the swimming pond. In this case, the zone copes best with water purification. Biopurifying plants are planted in abundance on the bioplateau.

What are the benefits of professional construction of reservoirs and ponds?

Many summer residents who decide to create a pond with their own hands are concerned with the question: “Is it possible to build a pond without waterproofing?” Theoretically, this is possible, but there are many restrictions on making this decision. For example, it can be implemented if you have high clay soil and water is practically not absorbed into the soil. In other cases, it is necessary to do at least basic and inexpensive waterproofing, otherwise there is a high risk that the water will simply go into the soil, swamping the dacha and washing away the foundations of buildings.

Here are some of the most common materials that can be used to make a waterproof bottom.

  • Film. Polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride and butyl rubber material with a thickness of at least 500 microns is used. The film is relatively cheap, simple and easy to install. However, the coating is not as durable as we would like and is easily damaged when cleaning the bottom. The film is only suitable for small ponds.
  • Ready-made forms. They are made of plastic and fiberglass and have a service life of approximately 10-20 years. They are quite durable and aesthetically pleasing, have a variety of shapes and are resistant to temperature changes. However, if damaged, it is difficult to repair the form.
  • Concrete. Filling the banks and bottom with concrete is a relatively rare practice. However, it is common in the field of swimming pool construction. To create a reliable structure, you need to carry out all work strictly in accordance with technology to avoid possible destruction. Concreting is an expensive and labor-intensive process.
  • Sprayed polymer materials. This is the most modern waterproofing solution available today. It is a liquid polymer that is sprayed onto a surface under pressure and then hardens, forming a durable, waterproof, flexible membrane. You can apply any number of layers of material, laying layers of reinforcing mesh between them. This design lasts 30-40 years or more and is excellent for swimming pools.

Stage 2. Preparing for the construction of a swimming pond and drawing up an estimate

All data obtained at the previous stage must be summarized and compared with your budget. Based on this information, you should draw a diagram of the pond indicating its shape and size. This can be done on simple graph paper or in special computer programs. The drawing is needed in order to calculate the amount of materials needed to finish the bottom and shores.

After this, calculate the quantities of sand, crushed stone, geotextiles, film and all other necessary materials. Think and write down what tools you might need. The standard “kit” of a builder who plans to create a swimming pond at his dacha consists of gloves, a tape measure, a wheelbarrow, several buckets, a level, several shovels (scoop and bayonet), a hacksaw, a rake, and a sledgehammer. This is the necessary minimum of tools that will definitely come in handy.

Then go shopping and write down actual prices. Include all the materials, tools and services that you need in your estimate, indicating the price (preferably with a reserve in case of price increases). It is not recommended to buy until a complete list has been compiled and the total cost has been calculated, because it is easier to redo something at the planning stage than to rebuild the structure later. If you are satisfied with the final amount, order and deliver the materials and begin construction.

Stage 3. Digging a pit for a swimming pond

The pit can be dug with your own hands using shovels or using special equipment. It is hardly worth spending money on the services of an excavator if the area of the pond does not exceed 10 square meters. m, and the depth is 1 m. If the work is larger, manual digging will take a lot of time and effort.

Draw a contour on the ground, marking it with a bright rope stretched between pegs driven into the ground. After this, you can begin to dig, starting from the deepest area and gradually moving to the banks. If you do the opposite, there is a risk of not meeting the planned depth. Dig with reserve, because a sand-gravel mixture and geotextiles will be laid at the bottom, taking up some volume. The depth of the hole should be approximately 10 cm greater than the final depth of the bowl of the swimming pond. When using PVC or butyl rubber film as waterproofing, a narrow ditch measuring approximately 30x30 cm is dug around the perimeter of the structure at a distance of 30-50 cm from the edge of the pit to secure the material. The bottom of the swimming pool is made flat with smooth height transitions; sometimes a stepped design is chosen.

Stage 4. Laying waterproofing and installing pumps

You need to pour sand at the bottom in a layer about 5 cm thick, level it and compact it. Afterwards, a dense fabric - geotextile - is laid on the sand cushion (it is designed to protect the film, so if you do not use the film, this material will not be needed). A container is placed on top or a film is laid, removing its excess at the edges into pre-prepared narrow channels and securing them in them. All folds of the film must be smoothed out. Then a test filling is carried out to check the condition of the waterproofing, and pumping and filtering equipment is installed. If everything works well, you can move on to decor and finishing filling.

Stage 5. Decorating the pond

The appearance of a swimming pool can be complemented not only with stones of various sizes and moisture-loving plants, but also with lighting (external and underwater), fountains, alpine slides, waterfalls and various decorations in the form of figures and statues. The main thing is not to use too many elements, otherwise you can visually “overload” the pond.

Building a swimming pond

A swimming pond is an artificial reservoir designed for swimming. Outwardly, it is very similar to a natural reservoir and in its own characteristics too. It takes on the role of not only an ordinary pool, but also an aesthetic function. In recent years, such ponds have taken a leading position in European territory, displacing previously popular pools. Summer residents today want not only to enjoy the beauty of the pond, but also to enjoy swimming (instead of visiting a public pool). Residents of Europe have already been able to evaluate the benefits of natural bathing, comparing it with chlorinated water in a public pool.

Pond construction

Swimming ponds are similar in appearance to natural reservoirs: they have a gently sloping gravel bank where insects and fish swim. Their main idea is that one area of the reservoir is intended for swimming, the second is for purifying the liquid. In addition, virtually no chemicals are used.

Basically, bathing and regeneration areas are built in a 1:1 ratio. The larger the pond, the more stable it is, and the less often you need to clean it.

Place for a swimming pond

When installing and decorating a swimming pond, it is necessary to take into account the appearance of natural lakes with their aquatic world. In many cases, water treatment takes place near shallow coastlines, reeds and reeds. This vegetation feeds from liquid. In addition, small animals can find food here. That is, the overgrown shallow water acts as a kind of filter.

How much does it cost to install artificial ponds?

The cost of installing an artificial pond is only worth talking about when the design and estimate documentation for the site are already ready. Let's look at a few examples. The construction of such a structure with an area of approximately 125 square meters. m. costs summer residents approximately 14,000 Euros. This amount includes work with the soil, the price of EPDM film, construction of retaining walls and a filter section, installation of a skimmer and geotextiles with film.

Thus, for this amount you will build a pool that is filled with water. The approximate price of filtration equipment reaches 7,000 Euro. In addition, approximately another 1,500 Euro will be spent on installing the coastline and planting aquatic and marsh vegetation. Let us add that the area of this swimming pool on the site is approximately 125 square meters. m. The price of an ordinary swimming pool of the same size will be twice as expensive.

Advantages of a swimming pond located on the site

  • The swimming pond has a very beautiful appearance; it can simply be integrated and combined with the entire landscape design, resulting in an unusual plot in the country.

Swimming pond design diagram

  • Basically, reservoirs of this type work like a natural reservoir, thereby increasing the level of comfort on vacation.
  • This way you will get a new swimming pool full of life, where you don't have to spend any money. So you can make a pool with a regeneration area from a pond at low cost.
  • Maintenance is greatly simplified, since you no longer have to use chemical cleaning or complex filter systems, which also allows you to save money.
  • Ponds are maintained technically only by supplying liquid to the regeneration area, where the liquid is affected by aquatic vegetation and bacteria. You can decorate a pond with a small waterfall. This way, you will have an area with a sophisticated appearance.

Stages of pond construction

The main task is to determine the location of our pond. Some summer residents choose a place for a pond in the front part of their summer cottage, in front of the house, while others build their pond in the backyard.

Digging a pit with our own hands

After determining the location, we begin digging. To begin with, we can mark the contours of our pool with sand. You can choose the depth of the pond yourself. There are no restrictions here. But we make its walls at an angle. This is necessary for the soil to settle into the pool.

An excellent solution is to dig a pit in the form of steps. Steps are different levels where you can install different vegetation.

It must be leveled and thoroughly cleaned of various waste: fragments, pebbles or plant roots. Then we cover the base with sand, a layer of which is approximately 5 centimeters. At the end, the bottom needs to be compacted.

Waterproofing is considered an important stage during the construction of a decorative pond. Here we are talking about waterproofing, which means installing a film on the base of the pond. Also make sure to lay a cloth (on a sand cushion) on the base of the pond in advance. We also waterproof the pond.

Installation of waterproofing film

When laying the film, carefully align its edges, pressing the film tightly against each bend of the pit. The advantages of pond film are obvious. If there is excess, then lay it out as folds. We extend the edges of the waterproofing beyond the edges of the pit so that water does not get into the ground. They are then decorated with stones, burlap or vegetation.

Good advice: we install waterproofing on sunny days, since under the sun's rays the film warms up and becomes elastic.

It is necessary to draw a boundary between the swimming area and the part of the pond with vegetation. The second one is better to do more. We set aside an area there for shallow-water vegetation. We carry out these works to ensure the filtration process.

The fibrous roots of vegetation trap dirt. In addition, the roots of most shallow-water plants contain bacteria that grind large particles into sizes that are necessary for feeding the vegetation. But the roots of reeds, for example, can filter out heavy metals in the water. Vegetation also consumes a huge amount of nutrients, thus greatly reducing the level of algae proliferation in the reservoir.

You can separate the swimming area of the pond from the vegetation area by creating a wall made of concrete. Its height can be about 25 centimeters below the liquid level. You can also separate areas by stretching a fine mesh.

Features of waterproofing device

An important point: keep in mind that fine mesh, in comparison with the concrete version, is short-lived, that is, it can be used for a couple of years, then replaced.

The liquid in a pond must always be in motion, so it passes through the roots of vegetation. To do this, we use underwater pumps that direct water to the roots of vegetation using PVC pipes.

Aeration of water is also important because it allows aquatic organisms to satisfy their need for oxygen. This effect can be obtained if you use an aerator that is installed in the pond. We install it in the deepest area under water. Features of water aeration.

An important point: but here you need the help of a professional electrician.

The soil should be placed only in the area of the pond where aquatic plants are planted. In the bathing area we do not add soil. For strong rooting, choose viscous soil. To do this, select soil with the addition of bottom silt, clay, and sapropel.

Do-it-yourself well in the country

You should immediately warn those who want to have a pond for fishing and swimming in their dacha. This is a rather complex structure; its construction should be undertaken carefully; the desire to “create a magnificent landscape design” is not enough. This refers to a fairly large body of water, not a decorative one.

The pond at the dacha for breeding fish and swimming is quite large in size, and this is already a real hydraulic structure in its complexity, requiring a competent approach.

Before the immediate start of construction work, the following problems need to be solved:

When the preliminary questions are clear, you can begin to sketch the reservoir and draw up a water supply and drainage diagram.

Significant problems can arise when it is necessary to clean the bottom of the pond. It will not be possible to drain the water completely; it will have to be pumped out with powerful pumps. Again, recusal issues need to be resolved. The pumped water should not flood existing buildings and neighbors on the dacha site.

  1. Mechanical filters. The most common and cheapest method. In most cases, they can carry out cleaning in several stages from various types of contaminants. They consist of washed crushed stone and several fractions of quartz sand.

  2. Chemical filters. Modern devices that absorb chemical compounds unusual for ponds. Additionally, a special installation for saturating water with oxygen can be used; it ensures an increase in its amount in the water. And oxygen accelerates the processing of organic pollutants by bacteria.
  3. Water sterilization. An ultraviolet irradiation unit processes water and destroys all types of bacteria. For fish ponds it is used only as a last resort when pathogenic bacteria are detected in the water.

  4. Microbiological method. Bacteria specially introduced into the pond significantly accelerate the decomposition of organic impurities.

The swimming area must have reinforced shore protection. If various films are used for waterproofing, they can be damaged by swimmers. Special ladders must be installed at the points of entry/exit from the water.

Places for installing additional equipment and drains should be provided when working with the bowl. Exits are installed in technological areas, more thorough waterproofing is done, etc.

The fish in the pond will have to be fed; natural food is not enough for it. Feeding is an unnecessary burden on the ecology of the pond; it will not be possible to accurately calculate the amount of feed. This means that water purification systems must be more powerful and efficient.

Video - How to build a pond yourself

What do you associate with such a word as dacha? Rest after a week of work. Everyone, of course, wants to have a soft lawn, rich aroma of forbs and a babbling stream with a pond. Do you want to receive aesthetic and physical pleasure from staying at your dacha? In this case, you should arrange a special pond for swimming in this area. And the ProfCoating company is always ready to help you in this matter.

What are the advantages of a swimming pond?

Plastic pools are not able to fit harmoniously into the landscape design of the site. Plus, they need quite expensive timely cleaning, replacing water and removing it for the winter. But a swimming pond is a completely different matter. This is a unique opportunity to create an artificial pond with beautiful vegetation in your dacha, in which you can also swim with the whole family.

The design and shape of such an oasis can be absolutely anything. There are no restrictions other than your design ideas. But the specialists working in our company are always ready to help you with this, offering a large assortment of sketches of ready-made projects. The swimming pond does not require expensive cleaning, because thanks to its design features, ecological balance is maintained with self-cleaning throughout the year.

Such a reservoir consists of three main elements:

  • the bathing bowl itself;
  • regeneration zone;
  • bioplato.

All these components are united by one common system with conductive lines and electrical equipment. A recreation area is set up near the swimming area and a convenient entrance is made.

Choosing the right place

An artificial swimming pond should be located in a place where there is no wind and partial shade. If its size does not exceed 100 square meters, then it is easier to care for it. But on the condition that half of this area will be allocated for regeneration (vegetation around the pond).

If your summer cottage plot is very small, but you still want to organize a place for swimming here, then the area of the reservoir is 30 sq.m. it will be quite enough. In this case, the regeneration zone will be about 10 percent. In this case, you will need to use special pumps and filters. Also, our experts do not recommend setting up a pond in close proximity to trees. Fallen leaves will quickly pollute the water and promote algae growth.

What plants are best for a swimming pond?

They are located in a specially designated regeneration zone. Planted in bulk soil or in containers. This applies to plants such as arrowhead, forget-me-nots, marsh flowers, umbrella susak and exotic water lilies. During the frost period, all thermal plantings should be removed from the pond to a cool room for overwintering.

  • reed;
  • broadleaf cattail, etc.

For a small pond, it is better to use swampy iris, three-leaf watch and sedge. But for the coastal zone you should use: loosestrife, spurge, loosestrife, rush grass and small cattail. As a decoration for such a pond, plantings that love a large amount of moisture are perfect. At the edge you can plant weeping willow, Rogersia, Siberian iris, mantle and fern.

Bathing pond care

Despite the fact that the plants in the pond purify the water on their own, you should still monitor it periodically. Clean filter grids, trim dry plants, remove fallen leaves and other debris. There is no need to drain the water in the winter, but replenish it in the summer. If this is a swimming pond, then it is not recommended to stock fish there.

The specialists who have been working at the ProfPokrytie company for many years have excellent skills and thoroughly know all the stages of constructing such reservoirs. All our clients were able to verify their professionalism. We will select for you the most suitable design for your future swimming pond, carry out all construction work in full compliance with regulatory requirements, beautifully decorate the pond and tell you in detail how to properly care for it.

Ecology of consumption. Estate: Find a place for a bathhouse on a small plot of land and, moreover, build it yourself...

Already in the process of building the house, it became clear to its owners that there should be a swimming pond next to it. And now, four years later, the owners were able to fulfill this dream with the help of family members and their friends.

Theory first

Finding a place for a bathhouse on a small plot of land and, moreover, building it yourself - the possibility of implementing such a project is clearly demonstrated in our material.

Before starting construction, the couple studied this issue in great detail, studying a lot of specialized literature and available information on the Internet.

After a thorough analysis of all aspects and calculations, the homeowners chose classic version of a reservoir of geometrically correct shape. The basis for this decision was, in particular, the fact that, as a new landscape element, the artificial pond, due to its rectangular shape, would harmoniously fit into the overall ensemble, forming an architectural unity with the straight lines of the residential building. This condition was fundamentally important for homeowners.

It was also important for them that the pool supplier offered assistance in the form of consultations on technical issues. And for beginning builders, not only the timely delivery of materials to the installation site, but also any assistance during the construction of the facility was of great importance.

The whole world

In the spring, the first stage of work began on laying a swimming pond on a site with an area of 750 m². The owners handled the marking of the future bathhouse, as well as the task of removing the turf layer, on their own. But then it was necessary to involve specialists, because the excavation was carried out with an excavator. To dig a pond measuring 6.5 x 3 m and 1.25 m deep, including excavation work around its perimeter, about 40 m³ of soil had to be removed.

The installation of the side walls of the bathhouse from ready-made elements with tongue-and-groove joints was also done in-house. Before spreading the film over the entire surface, the owners received important advice from professionals: if they cover the bottom of the deep zone with slabs of rigid foam, they can subsequently avoid significant heat loss going into the ground.

Friends and neighbors were invited to lay the 1.2 mm thick film. Moreover, the more hands, the better the result will be. As a result, ten people came to help spread the film. And one more practical observation: if you choose a sunny day for such work, everything will go easier and more fun, since the olive-green film, heating up in the sun, becomes more elastic.

How it's done

View of the skimmer box from the inside: if the film is tightly adjacent to the hole, water is absorbed without loss and through the coarse filter sections it is freed from large debris (leaves, insects, etc.). Then the water flows back into the pond through the circulation pipeline.

Man-made pond

After the soil is backfilled, gravel is added and a drainage hose is laid, then proceed to connecting the filtration unit. A so-called skimmer filter is used, which allows you to effectively clean the surface of the water from leaves, flower petals, and various debris.

All technical equipment is compactly placed under wooden walkways. The flooring for them, as well as for the adjacent terrace, is made of durable, weather-resistant bangkirai wood.

The material for the wooden frame framing the bathing area was untreated Douglas fir wood, which does not rot under water in the absence of air access. Thanks to this frame, the bathhouse was visually elevated above the rest of the pond. This is called a single chamber system, which is based on a continuous water system. The regeneration zone and the bathing zone are located under a single water surface, and only due to excess backwater a barrier is created that separates them from each other.

Stages of work

1. At some distance from the terrace, mark the outline of the area from which the turf will be removed.

2. The excavator is now working. Due to the rectangular shape of the pond, the pit is formed in steps.

3. For the walls of the pond, sandwich panels 6 cm thick with a tongue-and-groove connection are used.

4. In order to increase rigidity and facilitate the process of laying the film, wooden spacers are prepared.

5. The rather thick, and therefore very heavy, film can now be spread out and leveled in the best possible way.

6. The most difficult stage of the work is completed - the film is carefully laid out and stretched exactly according to the shape of the bowl.

7. The pool is filled with water, and then along the entire perimeter the edge areas are covered with soil and compacted.

9. A non-woven fabric is laid on top of the film to then begin constructing the wooden frame of the bowl.

10. A trench is placed outside the frame and filled with gravel. Then they lay...

11. ...the drain pipe of the filtration circuit, which is required to ensure constant circulation of water.

12. It is covered with a layer of gravel. Later, all this will be under a single water surface.

13. Only the outline of the wooden frame remains clearly visible, which is typical for a single-chamber system.

14. Where previously there was only a lawn, a slightly raised and protruding terrace has now been built.

15. The boardwalk is laid along the entire facade of the house. In front of him is a skimmer box.

16. Gangways with a steel ladder elegantly close the box, leaving access to it free.

17. For greater convenience when approaching the pond, wide stone slabs are laid on the gravel bed.

Plants for shallow water(regeneration zones) should be selected on the advice of specialists - landscape designers and gardeners. The housewife’s long-standing passion for botany helped in choosing the most suitable plants for the pond, and this activity gave her great pleasure. About 100 different species that have found their place in the artificial reservoir provide water purification without the use of chemicals.

The construction process of the bathing pond continued for a month. After all the work was completed, a wonderful opportunity for rest and relaxation appeared: now, straight from the hot sauna, which is equipped on the first floor of the house, you can run along the walkway and enjoy immersing yourself in cool water.

All efforts to care for the pond, in addition to cleaning the filtration unit and trimming faded plant branches, are limited only to collecting leaves from the surface of the water surface or from the bottom of the bath. Very satisfied homeowners claim that the previous lawn of the same area required much more effort and therefore time from them, and therefore it was not possible to truly admire the garden.

Many of us, refusing to build any reservoir at our dacha or site, do this because caring for it takes a lot of time, from those few days that we manage to get out into nature and tinker on the ground. There is some truth in this; changing water, cleaning and filtering it, even with the help of modern devices and even if we are talking about a relatively small volume of circulating water (for example, in a bowl), takes a lot of time and brings a lot of trouble.

In this example, you get rid of them almost completely, since all this work will be entrusted to plants and natural materials and will happen naturally. The construction of such a pool, or rather a swimming pond, will allow you to fully enjoy the contemplation of the water on the site and not be afraid to come to the dacha and find a sour puddle with muddy water.

In this case, a small plot of land near a house in a block with dense linear buildings, it would seem, did not give the slightest chance of creating an open reservoir here. But the home owners did not want to give up the dream of having their own swimming pool and managed to realize it in a minimal space with maximum effect.

Made by hand with love and care using a special technology, the reservoir is a closed ecosystem in which water purification and regeneration occurs without chemical reagents, naturally, with the help of specially selected plants and natural materials.

An ordinary pool in this case did not fit into the landscape. In addition, the owners considered this option too expensive not only in terms of the cost of the structure, but also in terms of the costs of its further operation (expensive cleaning system, regular water changes, water removal in winter).

Bathing pond, on the contrary, does not require chemical water purification, since its self-purification occurs naturally.

Aquatic plants serve as a picturesque decoration not only of the reservoir, but also of the surrounding garden. There is no need to drain the water from the garden pond for the winter and cover it with a special covering.

It is enough to prune the plants in the fall and remove particles of silt deposits from the bottom in the spring. The environmental benefits of a natural pool with biotechnology for natural water purification, as well as its magnificent appearance, became decisive factors when choosing a reservoir. Thus, the desired “water kingdom” combined a bathing pond with a decorative garden pond, and all this splendor could be placed on a tiny area of 20 m2.

Elegant solution

The cramped conditions of the construction site did not allow the walls of the bathing bowl to be laid out from blocks or cast from concrete. For this project, experts found an elegant technical solution. A granite bowl made of thin (4 cm) slabs is installed on a concrete foundation about 35 cm high in a pit lined with a layer of waterproofing. The platform around the pond is made of waterproof corrugated boards with an anti-slip effect.

A miniature pond has become a successful addition to a home sauna. After a hot, fragrant steam bath, it is pleasant to plunge into the cool water of a pond surrounded by flowering plants.

Natural water regeneration is the main advantage of this homemade pond-pool

On a small plot of land allocated for the construction of a pond, they placed not only a bathing bowl, but also a water regeneration zone, the area of which is slightly larger, and the water level is slightly higher than in the “font”. Water is supplied to the filtration zone from the pool bowl using a pump. Mechanical cleaning is carried out using a gravel filter and a skimmer, which captures particles of contaminants from the surface layer of water. The plant filter in the regeneration zone consists of specially selected plants and a special soil substrate that extract the nitrates and phosphates they need from the water and thereby purify the water.

Particles of organic pollutants are retained by the plant filter and decomposed by beneficial bacteria into safe substances. In addition to the practical benefits for natural water filtration, flowering plant species in the regeneration zone serve as an excellent decoration for the pond and the entire garden area.

Already a year after its construction, the pond, which uses natural water purification mechanisms, is a self-regulating closed ecosystem capable of functioning properly and for a long time, without requiring complex and expensive maintenance.

Do-it-yourself swimming pool with natural water regeneration - photo

  1. The bowl of the pond is lined with waterproofing pond film, which is welded at the joints for a tight fit to the bottom and walls of the pit
  2. A swimming pool is installed in the center of the pit. Vertically installed granite slabs clearly limit its volume
  3. Thin granite slabs enclosing the swimming pool are leveled and pre-fixed with wooden blocks
  4. Where the pool adjoins the terrace, a staircase is installed to enter the reservoir, the construction of which also uses granite slabs
  5. After installing the granite slabs, the pond is filled with water. With a properly installed plant filter, the cloudiness of the water disappears during its regeneration
  6. The water level in the regeneration zone should be slightly higher than in the swimming pool, so water is supplied to the filtration zone using a pump, and after cleaning it flows back through the gutter
  7. In the regeneration zone, on both sides of the swimming pool bowl, a skimmer is installed that collects particles of pollution from the surface of the water, and a gravel filter for rough cleaning from other impurities
