When laying bricks, excess mortar must be removed immediately before it dries. The first 6 rows of brickwork are the base of the oven. Let's look at how covered gazebos with barbecues are built from brick. As already mentioned in the article, such a structure has a large mass, so it will be necessary to make a reliable foundation.

Before building a gazebo with a barbecue, even before the onset of frost, the site was marked and a pit was dug 50 cm deep. Having compacted the bottom, we poured a layer of sand 15 cm thick and compacted it. Then they poured in the same amount of sand and repeated the operation, bringing the thickness of the sand layer to 30 cm.

Geotextiles were laid on top of the sand, with an overlap of 10 cm, and then 10 cm of medium-fraction crushed stone was poured and it was also thoroughly compacted.

Since we plan to build a warm gazebo with a barbecue, we laid 32-density foam foam, 50 mm thick, on top of the crushed stone. After laying the waterproofing, the first layer of Ø8 mm reinforcement was installed at a distance of 50 mm on top of it, and the second was placed at a distance of 150 mm above the first.

Since the slab must rise at least slightly above the ground, low formwork was installed in such a way that a slab 250 mm thick was obtained. To make it easier to level the concrete, we positioned the formwork so that its edges were level with the level of the floor that we wanted to make.

Having finished with the preparations, we brought the mixer and filled the pillow with M250 concrete. We waited a month for the concrete to gain strength, and only after that we started building our closed gazebo.

Now we’ll take a closer look at how to build a gazebo with a barbecue out of brick with your own hands. It is not at all necessary to make a slab foundation - we could have done with a strip foundation, but we did not want to fill in the screed later, but did everything at once. Considering the great depth of soil freezing in our area, it was the slab foundation with insulation that allowed us to go deeper into the ground by only 50 cm.

Since a warm structure is being built, we did not make thin walls, otherwise they would have to be insulated later.

When erecting summerhouses with barbecues, photos of which are given in the article, we laid bricks along the height of the window openings, and then switched to support pillars, laying them out at the height of the structure.

The constructed gazebo must be covered. To manufacture the rafter system, you can use both profile pipes and wooden blocks. The second option is more familiar, and the material was left over from the construction of the bathhouse, so all parts of the roof are made of wood.

In those places where the stove will be installed, we will lay down sections of roofing felt that will serve as waterproofing, and on them we will lay out the contours of the future structure using bricks.

Let's start laying bricks with a barbecue, and then lay out the firebox and tabletop.

Since we plan to use the gazebo not only for cooking barbecue, we will also make a stove on which we can install a cauldron.

Having laid out the lower part, we will begin making the tabletop. For masonry we will use fireclay bricks, and the binder will be a fire-resistant mixture based on clay.

We will lay out a chimney from the same fireclay brick and form a channel for.

To avoid problems with cracking of the masonry, we will reinforce each row with wire.

When laying, we tried to avoid mistakes, so the position of each row was checked with a level.

While laying, we continue to form smoke channels. Then we covered the entire gazebo with a water-repellent compound, and we got a moisture-resistant, warm gazebo with a barbecue.

How a wooden gazebo with barbecue can be safe

When wooden gazebos with barbecues are built, special attention must be paid to fire safety.

When placing a metal barbecue inside a wooden gazebo, make sure that there is a sheet of metal on the floor underneath it (as in the photo). If the grill is located near one of the walls, then it also needs to be covered with metal.

Although brick does not heat up as intensely as metal, a brick oven cannot be installed close to wooden walls - a layer of sheet iron must be installed. Also, the walls and floor must be covered with metal within a radius of one meter.

It is important to understand that a stone oven is a rather heavy structure that requires a monolithic foundation. When using piles or a strip foundation as a support, it is necessary to pour a concrete base in the place where the hearth will be installed and in accordance with its dimensions. A reinforced concrete layer 15–20 cm thick is sufficient. A solid slab can cope with the load from the furnace without reinforcement.

Installation of pile foundation

If you decide to build a gazebo made of wood or metal at your dacha, you can make a base from piles. To do this, prepare four holes in the ground at the corners of the future building (it is convenient to use a drill). A layer of sand and crushed stone is poured onto the bottom, formwork is made from plywood or boards, and metal rods are secured for reinforcement. Inside, a pillar made of metal or wood is installed in the center and concrete is poured around it.

A timber or metal profile is placed on a frozen pile-type base and a frame is made in the form of a square. From this frame the subsequent construction of walls is carried out.

Solid slab as a foundation

For a slab base, it is necessary to remove the top layer of soil throughout the entire construction site. Here you need to take into account that it is better to make the slab larger in area than according to the gazebo design. It’s good if the base protrudes 30–40 centimeters beyond the walls of the terrace. Such a blind area will prevent rotting and corrosion of materials.

After removing 30–40 cm of the top layer, sand is poured into the resulting depression and compacted, followed by crushed stone. Lay metal reinforcement along the bottom of the pit. Fill it evenly with concrete so that the height of the slab is 15–20 cm above ground level.

Strip foundation

Solid gazebos need a solid foundation. A trench is dug for it around the perimeter of the structure. Compact the soil, fill with sand and crushed stone. Then formwork and reinforcement are made and concrete is poured. The formwork is removed only after the solution has hardened, and the frame of the gazebo is welded to the protruding ends of the reinforcement.
