We mechanize country work: gardening equipment. Do-it-yourself agricultural equipment Creative DIY crafts for the household, made by yourself

There are many devices and mechanisms to make the work of a summer resident easier. But very few people can afford them, and the price does not always justify the quality. Shouldn't we take on the work ourselves?

Multifunctional cultivator

I don’t know what prompted further work more - the thirst for improvement or the fact of publishing the material, but first I developed equipment for marking and simultaneously making furrows for planting small seeds, then I made other improvements cultivator. It now has interchangeable attachments and performs the following operations.

  • The landing plow is equipped with a unit that regulates the angle of inclination of the cutting part of the plow; has a toe that ensures the plow plunges into the ground and moves at a given depth; mortar cheeks that form the required width of the furrow. Designed for strip planting of potatoes and other large planting material.
  • The ditch plow deepens the furrows to the required distance, while maintaining the established interval between them. Designed for planting small planting material (for example, onions or garlic).
  • Flat cultivator - for loosening the soil after rain or watering.
  • Disc cultivator for simultaneously loosening the soil, crushing clods and removing weeds on heavy and untreated soils.
  • After cutting the weeds between the rows at a given depth, the weeder brings them to the surface and turns them upside down. It has adjacent knives (5 sets) adjustable in height and tilt, designed for row spacing from 150 to 400 mm.
  • The hiller allows you to hill up plants during their growing season without disturbing the root system and the resulting fruits.
  • The rake has a tooth design that allows you to remove cut weeds and hay.
  • The trolley container (for 8 buckets), like all the specified tools, is quickly and easily mounted on the cultivator frame. Allows you to move various loads. Due to one support wheel, it is maneuverable and can be passed where a two-wheeled trolley cannot pass. The container, made of thin sheet stainless steel and reinforced with piping, even allows you to prepare cement mortars in it and move especially dense substances.

To this I would like to add that the mentioned multi-purpose cultivator can be made at home using ordinary plumbing tools, as they say, if desired. For this purpose, materials that are mostly used are used.
And those interested can always contact me by phone 067-608-68-87 (international call from Russia) with questions regarding the manufacture of a cultivator for their own needs.

Lawn mowers: basic and portable

Some residents of our farm made themselves cultivators, although not to their full extent. For those who have not made their changes, they work successfully. And for those who changed individual elements without connecting them with others, things didn’t go well. The most common mistake is related to the wheel. Its recommended outer diameter is 300 mm, width - 40 mm. It must be rigidly rubberized. Using a wheel of a smaller or larger diameter, a different width, or replacing it with a non-rubber or inflatable one will disrupt the relationship of the elements, and the matter will stall.
When developing the design of a tool for cultivating the earth, based on its purpose, I first think through the design. Then I make a simplified mock-up and test it on moistened sand, thus practicing the tool. Then I make a simplified copy of the working sample and try to use it again, but in natural conditions. Of course, there are mistakes, then everything needs to start over.
At one time, I had the sad experience of purchasing an expensive imported lawn mower. It had barely reached the end of the warranty period when it broke down. The lawn mower could not be repaired and the warranty had expired. So I took it apart, as they say, piece by piece, to understand the cause of the breakdown. The first impression is that it was designed by some random people. But then I came to the conclusion that this design is not designed for a longer service life.
As a pensioner, such a purchase is expensive for me. So I developed my own design. While inferior in design in a number of parameters, it surpasses industrial designs in quality.
I mow the grass twice a season, and a layer of half-decayed hay accumulates on the surface of the soil, which, holding moisture, prevents the lawn from becoming soggy even in heavy rain.
The lawn mower is stable at any density and height of the grass cover, both on flat and complex areas, as well as on slopes. Working close to curbs, supports, bushes and tree dumps, it prevents contact with them. Equipped with three replaceable knives. The first one is intended for preliminary one-time planning of the site. It removes protruding roots and local unevenness, partially sunken stones and other objects. The 2nd is used for mowing grass while simultaneously grinding it into a fine fraction. Thus, it is dispersed throughout the lawn for subsequent rotting. The 3rd mows and arranges the grass in a row, after which it can be used for animal feed and as fertilizer after rotting in compost.
This lawn mower can be easily and quickly adjusted to any grass height.
Despite the fact that it is convenient to transport like a wheelbarrow, complaints may arise in public transport.
Therefore, at the request of my wife, I developed the design of a portable lawn mower for work on the yard and small lawns, taking the previous one as a basis.
Additionally, he provided for the possibility of transporting it in public transport.

Main characteristics:

  • working overall dimensions - 360x500x250 mm,
  • handle height 800-900 mm,
  • transport dimensions -360x420x250 mm,
  • weight - 12 kg,
  • electric motor voltage 220 V,
  • power 0.5-0.75 kW,
  • rotation speed (right rotation) - 1450 rpm,
  • swath width 300-350 mm,
  • height adjustment: 0-75 mm.

The design of the lawn mower allows it to be assembled at home using ordinary mechanic tools.
Component parts can always be found in the storerooms of a thrifty owner or purchased for a small amount on the used equipment market. The only, but small problem: you will have to order the main unit - the headstock, which ensures transmission and change of rotation, protects the electric motor from overloads, and allows you to attach replaceable knives, preventing the shaft from wearing out in the places where they fit.
With all the costs incurred, this amount cannot be compared with the cost of an industrial lawn mower!
And it will work uninterruptedly for years.

Currently, when carrying out individual construction, it seems advisable to use small-scale mechanization tools that eliminate heavy manual operations for lifting and lowering loads. In this regard, we bring to your attention the design of a unified self-braking lift (Fig. 1), which can be mounted on a movable platform. The lift has a manual drive, which ensures maneuverability of its use and the ability to use it away from power lines.

The design of the lift is quite simple. Its manufacture does not require scarce materials. The lift can be made using widely used elementary machine tools and a welding unit.

To ensure the compactness of the lift, given that the mass of the load being lifted is 65-70 kg - a weight that can be carried and placed in the cargo basket by two people, the distance between the guide pipes (the main load-bearing element of the structure) is provided within 470 mm. To make the lift design more compact, the placement of counterweights is provided in the guide pipes themselves, which allows you to fit; Xia (in plan) in size 700x700 mm.

Technical specifications

  • Load capacity, kg................................65—70
  • Number of workers on the winch, people........ 2
  • Force on each handle when lifting a load, kgf.................................................... ....................6
  • Lifting speed, m/min...................................8

The basis of the lift is two guide pipes installed vertically. The distance between the pipes over the entire height is 470 mm. Between the pipes there is a carriage that moves up and down on rollers using a hand winch attached to the foundation. Attached to the carriage is a basket intended for cargo.

The cargo rope, with the help of which the carriage with the load is raised and lowered, is placed on the winch drum (3-5 turns without fastening to the drum). One end of the cargo rope, directed upward, goes around the roller and guide block installed in the upper part of the lift, and is fixed to the carriage; the other end of the rope from the winch drum is directed downwards, goes around a suspension block installed, for example, on a movable platform, and is connected to a lanyard attached to the carriage.

The pipes contain counterweights suspended at the ends of ropes that go around the upper blocks. The latter are located at the upper ends of the pipes. The other ends of the ropes are fixed to the carriage.

To lift the load, you must rotate the winch handles away from you (from top to bottom). In this case, the drive gear rotates another gear, which, turning around, moves along the shaft thread, while pressing the textolite washers and the ratchet wheel to the shaft disk. As a result, the shaft with the drum on which the cargo rope is wound begins to rotate. The carriage with the load rises.

When the handles stop, the rope tends to turn the shaft in the opposite direction, but the clamped ratchet wheel will not be able to rotate in this direction, since its tooth rests against the ratchet. This way, when the handle is released, the load will not fall. When moving along the guide pipes, the carriage may have a skew (vertical deviation) of 1-2 degrees as a result of the formation of gaps between the rollers and the guide pipes.

When lowering the load, you must rotate the winch handles towards you (from top to bottom). In this case, the textolite washers will release the ratchet wheel from the clamp, since the gear wheel, rotating, moves along the shaft thread in the other direction. In this case, the carriage with the load lowers freely.

When operating the lift, the following conditions must be observed: lubricant must not be allowed to get on the side surfaces of the textolite washers, gear wheel and ratchet wheel of the winch; The winch ratchet must be engaged with the ratchet wheel; Before starting loading work, you need to tighten the cargo rope using a turnbuckle to prevent slipping of the turns on the winch drum, as well as to obtain clearances between the brake pads and guide pipes.

If the cargo rope breaks during loading and unloading operations, a spring located on the carriage presses on the levers with brake pads. They, pressing against the pipes, ensure braking of the carriage with a load at any height.

Rice. 1. a - front view (basket 5 not shown); b - side view of the winch (from the ratchet side); c - section along the winch gears; d - section along A-A; 1 - guide pipe; 2 - carriage; 3 - winch; 4 — winch foundation; 5 - basket; 6 — cargo rope; 7 — winch drum; 8 — rollers; 9 — guide block; 10 - hanging block; 11 - lanyard; 12 — counterweight; 13 — counterweight rope; 14 — upper block; 15 — textolite washer; 16 — gear; 17 — ratchet wheel; 18 — ratchet; 19 — brake pad of the carriage; 20 — winch handle; 21 - gear; 22 — drum shaft; 23 — carriage spring; 24 — carriage rollers; 25 — carriage stops; 26 — carriage brake pad gaskets

When sliding turns of the cargo rope on the winch drum, it is necessary to: check the surfaces of the cargo rope and the winch drum; if there is lubricant on them, thoroughly wipe the rope and drum; increase the tension of the cargo rope using a turnbuckle.

When the carriage brake pads jam between the guide pipes, provide a gap of 2-3 mm between the pads and pipes by increasing the tension of the cargo rope using a lanyard, as well as removing the required number of spacers between the pad and the carriage parts.

An important design feature of the lift is its unified use, which allows it to be used in various production conditions without any complex additions.

Lift maintenance does not require special training.

You have successfully visited the video of the youtube channel “Hands from Shoulders”. The presenter just has an excellent portion of homemade ideas for the household.

1. Everyone has had to peel oil paint off a wall at least once. Not the most pleasant thing to do. If you still have similar work to do, this is a great way to make the process easier. Making such a spatula is very simple. And the time saved is better spent on something more pleasant and useful. Now you don't have to scrape the wall with your own hands. Great idea for the home.

2. If you don’t have a hammer drill, well, you have an angle grinder, then using a diamond cup you can also do this job. By making a casing with a pipe for a vacuum cleaner, you will get rid of most of the waste. Without a casing I will be so much that I could easily turn into a snowman.

3. When working with curved parts, it is often necessary to find out their dimensions. You can, of course, attach a rope or wire. There is a better way. A homemade curvimeter will definitely tell you the length of the curved path. We twist the roller all the way to the handle. We draw the curvimeter along the line that needs to be measured. At the same time, the roller unscrews a certain distance. Next, all that remains is to take a tape measure and measure the distance until it is completely twisted.

4. Many live in private houses or have dachas or vegetable gardens. The hot time will come when you will have to plant seedlings. To avoid crawling on all fours in the garden beds, there is a cool device. You probably wouldn't expect that tedious work can be done quickly and easily. The author claims that with this method, to make the work of agricultural workers easier, up to 2000 bushes can be planted freely per day. If the seedlings are planted in large cups, or are already very overgrown, then an option with a shorter pipe is suitable.

The principle of a homemade device for planting cabbage: a 100 mm pipe, two triangular plates folded into a groove are welded on the bottom, one tightly, the second on a hinge, plus a leg with a return spring, at 30, 45 degrees. There is a support plate attached to the pipe to adjust the planting depth. Handles and ring for bucket. A little scrap metal and half a day of work.

5. When planting potatoes, there is also an interesting alternative to a spade. This homemade design is even simpler in execution than the previous one.

6. Interesting idea for a clamp for a drilling machine. Allows you to securely fix workpieces without resorting to a vice. Thanks to the lever, the necessary pressure is achieved to hold the parts.

7. A super compact version of folding trestles, this homemade product will definitely come in handy around the house. The legs are connected to each other by springs.

Interesting DIY crafts for the garden and garden with your own hands

DIY drawings for a summer house and vegetable garden will be useful to everyone. A dacha is the ultimate dream of, if not every average person, then certainly every second person. Not everyone, of course, will be lucky enough to become the owner of a country plot in their lifetime, but those who are lucky will need to constantly monitor and improve it, which requires considerable expenses. Do-it-yourself homemade products for your dacha and garden help you keep your dacha in impeccable condition. Today we will tell you a few secrets on how to save money on buying the necessary things for your garden and make them at home. Of course, not everyone can make a grader with their own hands or self-propelled guns for a tractor, but most of the homemade products will definitely come in handy on the farm.

Do-it-yourself variator for a machine

If you need to constantly work at the machine, then frequent changes in speeds lead to wear on the unit and have the additional disadvantage of regularly stopping the device. As an alternative, you can use a homemade variator for the machine. It can be made from wood with your own hands, without significant investment of time and money. CVT cones are made from hard wood, and you don’t have to use a lathe to make them; you can cut them with a jigsaw at an angle equal to the angle of inclination of the cone.

Scheme of Mironov's clinker variator.

If you assemble a cone from disks, then you must glue them together or nail them. The finished cones are seated deep on metal rods and secured with screws. In order for the belt to move evenly on the machine, roller guides are required. The rollers can be taken from furniture fittings, but if they are not available, you can use ordinary bearings.

An old washing machine is a real treasure

If you have a working engine from a washing machine, then this is a very valuable find, since you can use it to make many useful household devices. The easiest way is to use an engine from a washing machine to make excellent sandpaper for sharpening knives, various tools and drills.

The main problem in making the device is attaching the sharpening stone to the engine body itself. In most cases, the whetstone has a hole that does not fit the motor shaft. That is why you need to make a flange that, on the one hand, can be pressed onto the shaft, and on the other, will have a thread, which will allow you to screw in and secure the grinding wheel.

Image 1. Making emery from an old washing machine engine.

Experienced craftsmen recommend that beginners use old pieces of pipe 32 mm long and no more than 20 cm long as a flange. On one piece of pipe we make a thread whose length should be 2 times the thickness of the grinding wheel. The other end of the pipe is heated with a soldering iron and placed on the shaft. To better hold the pipe, it can be bolted together. After this, take 3 nuts and screw them onto the flange from the thread side until it stops, then put on the washer and, finally, the grinding wheel, then the washer again, and secure with a nut. At the end you can also add a lock nut.

The hardest work is done, after that all that remains is to fasten the motor, but this is a very individual procedure, since it is not known what holes are available on the motor from your washing machine for fasteners. Based on them, you need to make a stand; it is best to use small corners, fastening them together and placing the emery on the workbench. The final step will be connecting the engine to the electrical network. You can look at the finished version of the sharpener in the photo; drawings are also included (image 1).

Image 2. Grill from a washing machine drum.

Homemade items for the dacha can also be made from other parts of the machine; for example, a drum can make an excellent kebab maker. The drum in washing machines is made of stainless steel, which in itself is important, since the body is very strong and reliable. It’s very easy to make homemade items for a summer house from a drum; you just need to remove it from the machine body, but together with the shaft and pulley. We put the pulled out drum with the hatch on top and the wheel down. Now the brazier is ready, with the help of a grinder you can, of course, trim the front of the drum or the sides to make it more convenient to throw firewood, but here everything depends on your free time and imagination. This makeshift brazier looks very neat, with the drum dotted with small holes, which allows air to be evenly distributed over the coals and provide the necessary heat (image 2).

Hand-held circular saw from a grinder

Image 3. Diagram of a circular saw.

A circular saw in the country is a very useful thing, few people know, but it can be made from a grinder. You only have 2 elements left to complete: the sliding stop and the axial handle. After this, you will be able to use your circular saw from an angle grinder at any time.

2 small pieces of metal angle are suitable as a sliding stop. The edges of the corner are rounded so that they do not catch the part during processing. The corners are connected to each other at the back and front using bolts or nuts. A clamp made of metal tape must be placed on the body of the above-mentioned power tool. A folded strip of sheet metal or galvanized steel with a hole for the rear bolt of the sliding stop is attached to the screw tie of the clamp, which will be located below.

In the grinder gearbox we make 4 small holes for M5 bolts. For convenience, the gearbox can first be disassembled to better see where the hole can be made. These 4 holes are needed to attach the handle. The handle can be made from an ordinary metal tube. This completes the manual version of the grinder saw; if you want to make a real stationary version of the circular saw, then you will need more work skills, tools and well-calculated drawings (image 3).

Agricultural equipment and devices

Agricultural machinery is a very important tool in the countryside, which no owner can do without. Agricultural equipment today costs a lot, and you don’t really want to spend a lot of money on something that is rarely used, but at the same time you can’t do without it. One of the most popular devices is a wheelbarrow; it can be made from improvised means, thereby saving a lot of money. To make it you need:

Image 4. Drawings of a homemade cart.

  • wheel, preferably made of rubber;
  • plywood;
  • 2 corners;
  • wooden block, 3 m long;
  • nuts and axle from a bolt.

The method for making this tool for the garden is very simple and will be understandable even to a novice craftsman; the main thing here is to measure everything clearly, because if you do it by eye, it will turn out crooked. Drawings of the wheelbarrow are attached (image 4).

An equally popular tool for a summer cottage that will help get rid of snow in winter, that is, a shovel, can also be made from plywood. You will need:

  • plywood 10-12 mm thick;
  • wooden stalk;
  • nails;
  • steel plate 4-6 cm wide.

The plywood will serve as a shovel bucket, and the timber will allow you to hold the handle. Metal is used to edge the front and back parts of the plywood - the future bucket.

To cultivate a garden, a rake is often required. To make them you will need a wooden block 35 by 35 mm. The length of the handle can be adjusted at your discretion, but it is not recommended to make it too long, as it will be difficult to use. In addition to the bar and handle, you need to make at least 4 metal teeth. The metal must be strong so that it does not bend to the ground during operation. You can use metal from an old shovel and cut the teeth with a grinder. The teeth are aligned with a hammer and holes are drilled for the screws. Then the structure is fastened.

Design of a sprinkler for a vegetable garden

Homemade agricultural equipment also includes sprinklers for the garden, which can be made practically from waste that is found in everyone’s home. To irrigate your garden you will need:

  • spray;
  • rubber hose 3-4 m long;
  • plastic one and a half liter bottle;
  • pump;
  • a wooden or metal stick of any length, but the longer the better.

The sprayer is screwed to the stick with the top nozzle so that the lever is pressed using nylon threads. Wrap it tightly so that the sprayer does not move. After this, take a plastic bottle and use a hot nail to melt a hole in the neck. Then we push the bolt into the molten hole and secure it with a nut on the outside.

Before inserting the bolt, drill a through hole in it with a simple 3 mm metal drill. The hose is put on the bolt and secured with a small clamp using a screwdriver. We attach the second end of the hose to the pump and again secure it with a clamp so that everything is sealed.

The bottle contains poison for spraying beetles or water for watering crops. Screw the container to the top of the spray bottle, which is attached to a stick. Next, with the nozzle closed, we pump up the pump a little, after that we unwind the nozzle, and the sprayer starts working. In this way, you can spray trees of any height and large beds; if necessary, you can simply place the device on the ground and pump up the pump from time to time.

You can even make small greenhouses out of film at your dacha; you only need to drive a metal rod or stick into the ground and secure the plastic film in the form of a cone to the base.

Video about a drip irrigation system using a plastic bottle:

From below, the film is secured around an old barrel or adjusted with stones.

Conclusion on the topic

Now you know how to make expensive tools for a summer cottage without significant expenditure of money, time and nerves. The main thing is not what you use to improve your plot, but that you should like the work and being at the dacha should bring joy.
