Hygienic shower for toilet: types, their design features, and connection rules. When there is no room for a bidet, installing a hygienic shower will help out. Mixer with hygienic shower connection diagram

A hygienic shower has become an excellent alternative to a bidet where space is limited. Installing it yourself is not difficult and you can do without the services of a plumber. When starting installation, study all the features and nuances of the upcoming work, and your project will have a successful completion.

Benefits of a hygienic shower

A hygienic shower has long been common in modern toilets. It is designed to maintain intimate hygiene and has a number of advantages:

  • compactness, possibility of installation in small rooms;
  • ease of use;
  • versatility - a hygienic shower can be used to wash small children, wash the paws of pets after a walk, wash shoes, and be used to clean the toilet itself and the toilet room;
  • facilitates care for the elderly and people with disabilities;
  • low price compared to a full-fledged bidet.

Like any household item, a hygienic shower has its drawbacks:

  • After use for some time, residual drops of water may drip from the shower head;
  • If there are small children in the apartment, constant monitoring is necessary. The hygienic shower is installed at a level within reach of children and can be used for games, which is fraught with a “flood”;
  • inconvenience when used by overweight people.

Before installing a hygienic shower, weigh the pros and cons to make the right decision.

What to look for when purchasing

The concealed hygienic shower is installed for many years. Choosing the right model will allow you to avoid frequent repairs and enjoy the proper functioning of your shower.

When choosing one model or another, you should pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • method of attaching a hygienic shower;
  • design features (some models are designed to connect to one pipe);
  • the material from which the hygienic shower is made (brass or silumin), brass faucets are considered the most reliable and durable;
  • availability and quality of protective coating;
  • connecting hose length;
  • presence of a thermostat;
  • appearance;
  • availability of a warranty from the manufacturer.

When choosing a hygienic shower, give preference to manufacturers that have proven themselves in the market. They often provide long-term (5 or more years) warranty service for their products.

Hygienic shower device

A hygienic shower is a showerhead (watering can) connected to a mixer with a flexible hose. It differs from the usual shower in bathrooms only in the design of the watering can. For a hygienic shower, it is compact and equipped with a shut-off valve, which is a button with a spring. The shut-off valve is always in the closed position and must be pressed to dispense water. The quality of the valve is of great importance, since it is often subject to mechanical stress. Some models are equipped with a latch that allows you not to keep the button pressed during use.

To allow the shower to be mounted on the wall, the kit always includes a holder. The faucet is often sold separately from the shower. Selecting a suitable model will not be difficult, since the flexible hose of the hygienic shower has standard fixing fittings that are compatible with all types of faucets.

A concealed faucet is slightly different from an external one and consists of:

  • mounting box;
  • functional part;
  • joystick with decorative panel.

Advice. For ease of use, it is recommended to give preference to single-lever mixers.

Concealed installation of a hygienic shower

The current method of installing a hygienic shower is more complicated and more expensive than an external one. However, it also has its undeniable advantages:

  • aesthetic appearance of the toilet room, all pipes are hidden in the wall for finishing;
  • connection tightness;
  • no mechanical impact on pipes and mixer.

A distinctive feature of hidden installation is that the mixer is recessed into the wall, and only a joystick or lever remains on the surface to control the pressure and temperature of the supplied water.

Preparatory work

It is advisable to install a hygienic shower during a major renovation of the toilet room and plan it carefully. Preparatory work takes most of the time and is quite labor-intensive.

First stage. At the installation site of the mixer, a recess of appropriate dimensions is drilled in the wall.

Second phase. From the nearest source of water supply, ditches are dug for water supply.

Third stage. Laying water pipes and connecting them to the central water supply.

Fourth stage. Installation of the mounting box and the functional part of the mixer in the wall and connecting it to the water supply. At this stage, it is necessary to check the tightness of the pipe connections, since this will not be possible in the future.

Important! The mixer box must be firmly fixed to the wall.

Fifth stage. Sealing grooves, leveling and plastering walls, cosmetic finishing.

Installation of a hygienic shower on the wall

After completing the preparatory work, you can begin connecting the equipment. At this stage there are usually no difficulties:

  1. The shower holder is fixed to the wall. It is important to position it so that you can reach it without getting up from the toilet.
  2. Install the joystick with a decorative panel on the mixer.
  3. Connect a flexible hose to the mixer. When connecting a flexible hose, it is important to check the presence of rubber seals in the structure.

At this point, the installation of the hygienic shower is completed, and you can test the device in practice.

Connecting the shower to the sink

If the bathroom is combined or there is a small sink in the toilet room, a hygienic shower can be connected to the sink. This is a simplified option for installing a shower and anyone can handle it in a matter of hours.

The main condition for such a connection is the purchase of a special mixer that has an additional outlet for water. When choosing a hygienic shower in this case, it is important to pay attention to the length of the flexible hose and take into account the distance from the sink to the toilet. During operation, the hose should not be under tension.

The mixer is installed on the sink in its usual place. When opened, water flows simultaneously into the sink and shower. The shut-off valve holds water until the button is pressed.

Important! To ensure long-term operation of the hygienic shower without breakdowns, do not forget to close the water supply to the mixer. Otherwise, the shut-off valve will be under pressure for a long time and will quickly fail.

Installing a hygienic shower will make the toilet more functional. Simplicity of installation, ease of operation, low price and functionality - thanks to these qualities, the hygienic shower has gained popularity among consumers.

Not all bathrooms allow you to install a bidet, and the level of comfort after appropriate manipulations is completely different. But for those who do not have the space to install an additional bowl, there are several different ways to create a hygienic shower for the toilet. Some methods require large material costs, while others are quite affordable for families with average incomes.

Hygienic shower for the toilet - there are several options

What the market can offer

Having a bidet in the bathroom is certainly convenient, but not every apartment can install it. But this does not mean that a small bathroom is a reason to refuse such a procedure. There are several different ways to organize the conditions for this procedure:

All the methods described above are good. But it is the mixer for a hygienic shower that is the most attractive solution. There are models for installation that do not require repairs or complex manipulations. You can connect the device to an existing system, or you can place a faucet with a special outlet on the sink, to which you can connect a hygienic shower head. We’ll talk further about the types of these devices and the features of their connection.

Pros and cons compared to bidets

There is no need to argue about what is more convenient - a pair of toilet + bidet or a hygienic shower for the toilet. Everyone decides for themselves. Let's take a quick look at the main pros and cons of both devices:

Oddly enough, it is the last fact that is often decisive - an additional bonus in the form of expanded functionality is always pleasant. Another advantage of showers is the possibility of organizing them for relatively little money. But this is about devices with a mixer.

Types of hygienic showers with mixer

According to the installation method, there are two types of faucets for hygienic showers with mixers:

  • for the sink;
  • wall-mounted
    • indoor installation
    • outdoor installation.

Each of these options has pros and cons.

On the sink

If you place the hygienic shower on the sink, installation becomes much easier. All that is necessary in this case is to replace the mixer. It has a separate outlet to which a flexible hose with a watering can is connected. All you need to do is install the holder on the wall. The location of the sink is also important in this case. Ideally, you can reach the tap without getting up. Since such models have the following operating feature: first, the faucet on the washbasin is turned on, and the water temperature is set on it. Water naturally flows into the sink. When you press a button on the shower, the tap is blocked and water flows through the shower head. As soon as the key was released, water flowed into the sink again. This is the working principle.

Installing a hygienic shower on a sink is easy and simple

Wall-mounted concealed

If you choose a wall-mounted option, the difficulty of installation depends on how you plan to install it. Often in a bathroom or toilet there is a niche in which all communications are hidden. Often it is located behind the toilet or somewhere nearby. In this case, you can make the connection there and install the mixer on the panel or come up with some other option.

Standard installation involves gating the walls, laying hot and cold water supply pipes in the grooves, and at the final stage - installing the mixer itself.

Wall-mounted open (with thermostat)

These are not all varieties. There is also a hygienic shower with a mixer that connects only to cold water. This does not mean that the procedures are carried out with cold water. There is simply a flow-through electric heater installed in the housing. Such models are only for external installation, since the thermostat cannot be walled into the wall. Connection to water - using a flexible hose, the device itself is attached to the wall with dowels or other suitable fasteners.

The temperature is set on the regulator and maintained precisely. Just immediately after turning it on, you need to wait for a while - a few seconds until the heating element warms up. A very good option for those who do not have hot water in the toilet (or at all). Yes, do not forget that such models require an electrical connection.

An interesting installation option without gating is in the next video - the liner is laid on top of the walls, but covered with a box. It also has a holder for a watering can. It is worth paying attention to those who do not foresee any repairs to their toilet or bathroom.

Where to put

The installation height of the hygienic shower for the toilet is chosen almost arbitrarily. The only requirement is that the faucet must be installed above the toilet. There are no other restrictions.

The installation location is completely arbitrary, the main criterion is ease of use, which is difficult to achieve in small bathrooms. Therefore, we recommend that before making a final decision, you think it through and do all the steps with the watering can. This is the only way to be sure that it will be truly convenient to use.

Installation features

You can only say specifically how to install a hygienic shower for a toilet on the spot. There are too many different nuances that are simply impossible to take into account. The connection principle is simple: you supply cold and hot water to the corresponding inputs. That's all. How to do this, with pipes or flexible hoses, is your choice. Of course, pipes are more reliable, but high-quality flexible hoses in good braid can last for years.

There is only one nuance that is worth remembering. When connecting a hygienic shower to hot and cold water (centralized system), be sure to install ball valves and check valves. Taps are almost always installed, but check valves are often forgotten.

This is a check valve. During installation, turn it so that the arrow on the body coincides with the direction of water flow

They are needed so that water from the “cold” riser does not mix with hot water and vice versa. Usually, just the opposite happens - you open cold water, and boiling water pours out, but the opposite cases also happen - hot water periodically becomes not hot at all. This is all because someone did not install a check valve on your riser when connecting a hygienic shower to the toilet. The tap is opened, the shower is not being used yet, and through the open mixer water from one riser is mixed into another. Which water goes where depends on where the pressure is higher. Usually higher in hot risers (almost twice), which is why such cases are more common. But cold addition is also possible. In general, do not forget to install shut-off valves. They cost mere pennies (compared to the cost of the equipment), but they prevent unpleasant situations and disputes with the operating company and “happy” neighbors.

In a typical apartment it is difficult to find space for additional amenities. The small bathroom only fits a toilet. But small dimensions are not a reason to refuse to improve your home.

Can't install a bidet? It will be fully replaced by a hygienic shower for the toilet, which takes up a minimum of space and performs the same functions as the familiar hygienic device. Its structure, design features and existing varieties will be discussed in our article.

We will also look at the intricacies of installing various types of hygienic showers, consider the main advantages and list the best manufacturers present on the plumbing market.

Visually, a shower for performing personal hygiene procedures is almost no different from a regular shower.

Both the device and the other consist of the following parts:

  • mixer;
  • flexible hose;
  • watering can.

There are still differences and they are due to the purpose of the device. Since the head of a hygienic shower should not produce a scattered stream, but a stream focused in one direction and preferably without splashes, it is significantly smaller than that of a conventional shower.

The faucets of some representatives of this special category of showers are equipped with a thermostat, which is very convenient because... There is no need to select the temperature - it is adjusted automatically.

The thermostat is designed to mix water passed through the mixer to such a temperature that a person feels comfortable. A one-time adjustment after installing a hygienic shower in the toilet is enough and the thermostat will constantly maintain the set temperature.

The presence of this element will protect against burns, and if there is no hot water in the system, then the unpleasant sensations from this will be minimized.

The toilet, with a hygienic shower connected to it, will acquire new functionality, and a modest-sized bathroom will become much more convenient. This shower can be used not only for its intended purpose, but can also be used to wash shoes, a child’s potty, or a cat’s litter box.

While a regular shower has 2 outlets - for a flexible hose and a spout, a hygienic shower for a toilet simply does not need a second one.

Another feature is that even if the mixer is turned on, water will not flow from it until a special button is pressed, with which the flow is controlled. The jet pressure is adjusted using the mixer lever.

Main types of devices

It is important to know the advantages of such a solution to the problem of keeping your body clean, such as installing a wall-hung or floor-mounted toilet with a hygienic shower.

There are usually 5 main arguments:

  • simple installation, carried out in several ways;
  • saving space in a small room;
  • versatility;
  • reasonable price;
  • Ease of use.

The concept of a hygienic shower includes plumbing equipment that is completely different in appearance. According to design, there are 4 types of these devices for personal hygiene.

Option #1 – shower toilet

This is equipment of a special design, in which nozzles are built into the body. The control unit is built into the drain tank, which slightly increases its dimensions.

Plumbing fixtures of this type are both floor-mounted and wall-mounted. Manufacturers, in the process of improving their products, are constantly adding new ones to the list of available functions.

The most popular is a wall-hung toilet complemented by a bidet function. It is more convenient and better in terms of aesthetics because... its tank is masked by a plasterboard wall

Option #2 – bidet lid

It can be a rather convenient mobile addition to an old toilet. The control unit built into the lid can turn on the function of heating water to a comfortable temperature, drying, and softly lowering the seat.

Although in appearance this special cover resembles a traditional seat, structurally it is very different from it. Installing this element completely transforms the toilet; it acquires all the characteristics of a bidet

An interesting solution for the toilet. This is luxury sanitary ware produced by well-known brands. Such devices are more functional and comfortable to use, but their price tag is higher than conventional ones.

Option #3 – wall-mounted structure

The option of a hygienic shower mounted on the wall is quite convenient to use. A long flexible hose with a compact watering can is placed near the toilet. They install it to the water supply pipes, which means additional construction work.

A good alternative to a shower built into the toilet is an addition such as a shower placed nearby on the wall

Option #4 – shower connected under the sink

To implement this option, you need to place a sink next to the toilet. The watering can and flexible hose are attached to a specially designed mixer with three outlets. For a separate bathroom, a miniature corner sink is enough.

When you turn the faucet handle, the stream from the spout flows into the sink. To make water flow from the shower, you need to press the button on the shower head.

The last option for a hygienic shower is the most profitable, based on the cost of the device itself and its installation. Its advantage is that you don’t have to worry about the water being too hot - its temperature can be adjusted to a comfortable level above the sink.

If you absent-mindedly do not close the tap, the water will flow into the sink, which will prevent your neighbors from flooding.

Types of faucets for hygienic showers

This element of a hygienic shower, according to its design, comes in three types - valve, lever and with a thermostat.

The first is more common and differs in that the water volume is controlled through a valve. It is installed when connecting a hygienic shower to a sanitary cabinet. Thus, it is inconvenient to manually regulate the water temperature; an additional thermostat connection will be required.

A lever mixer is more convenient to use. It works well without additional equipment, so installation is easier. The designers assigned the lever the role of regulating water pressure and temperature. It's easy to manage all this with its help.

The photo shows a single lever chrome faucet. When installing, do not connect a long hose to it. It will interfere with temperature regulation

To constantly maintain the optimal temperature and pressure for a particular person or for everyone living in an apartment, a water jet is more suitable than others. Its operation is not affected by any pressure surges in the system. The disadvantage is the high cost of the device.

How to install correctly?

Installation of a shower toilet is carried out using almost the same technology as for a simple toilet. The difference is that you will have to additionally connect the water and install a mixer.

This process for other types of plumbing equipment of this type has significant differences and requires knowledge of many nuances.

The process of installing a hygienic rain shower is divided into 2 stages - in the first stage it is connected to the water supply and in the second stage the equipment itself is installed

One of them concerns the installation height of the hygienic shower. It is optimal when the level of the holder and mixer coincides with the top line of the tank, and to reach the holder you just need to stretch out your hand.

Installing a hygienic shower on the wall

If the dimensions of the apartment do not allow you to install a sink next to the toilet, you can install an external or built-in model of a hygienic shower on the wall in the toilet.

Having chosen this option, you need to constantly ensure that the mixer does not remain open. Otherwise, pressure remains in both the hose and the watering can, which has a destructive effect on them.

For an external water supply, a tee must be installed to insert the mixer. To do this, turn off the water supply, both cold and hot, and drain the remaining liquid.

Next, proceed to inserting the mixer. To do this, you need to install tees and taps on the pipelines supplying cold and hot water. First of all, turn off the water and release the pressure, then there will be no puddles on the floor.

The next step is to disconnect the flexible outlet of the toilet cistern. Here you need to place a container to drain the remaining water.

Disassemble the connection at the lowest point of hot water supply, placing a container under this place to drain the water. If hot water is not supplied centrally, but individually from a water heater installed in the apartment, then it is often supplied using a plastic pipe connected to an old steel pipe. Therefore, after disconnecting the plastic pipe, unscrew the coupling.

The steel pipe is cleaned and the winding is removed. A layer of sealant in the form of flax tow is wound onto the threads of the tee and pipe, then the tee is screwed on and the metal-plastic pipe is returned to its place. Before this, it is shortened a little and the burrs are removed so that they do not damage the rubber seal.

To connect the toilet cistern, install a tee on a pipe with cold water. Just as in the first case, tow is wound around the thread, sealant is applied, and the assembly is installed in place. This gives access to both the mixer and the cistern.

Install a faucet for the toilet tank and connect a flexible hose. To install the first element you will need a corner. The thread on it is very slippery, so notches are applied to it using an adjustable wrench.

A check valve is installed on the pipe supplying cold water to prevent hot water from entering the cold water supply system, which is possible if someone forgets to turn off the faucet. Next we proceed to install the mixer. One of the options for fixing it is to attach it to a special factory-made holder.

You can make a holder yourself by cutting a rectangle out of plywood and attaching it to a wooden block. A hole is made in its center and painted. Insert the mixer into the prepared hole and connect it to the water supply. A hose with a watering can is connected to the mixer through an adapter.

At the end of the process, a wall-hung or floor-mounted toilet with a hygienic shower is tested for the absence of leaks.

The option of installing a built-in hygienic shower is chosen when the walls are not yet lined or during a major renovation of the bathroom, when the old finish is replaced with a new one. A niche is made in the wall, and 3 grooves are laid to it. Two at a time supply water to the mixer, the third serves to remove it and supply it to the shower hose.

A niche is needed to place the mixer, and grooves are needed to hide the pipes. After connecting the pipes, they line the wall, then install the lever and the sleeve with the watering can.

Photo guide for installing the smart kit

Let's look at a clear example of the process of installing a set consisting of a hygienic shower and a bidet lining.

The personal hygiene system comes with literally everything you need for installation. However, you will have to buy a flexible hose laid from the tee to the tap into the water supply and the tee itself F1/2″×M1/2″×12 with a union nut

We will install it on a regular toilet.

Image gallery

We are preparing the toilet for the installation of a hygienic system, which includes both a shower and a simplified version of the bidet. Remove the cover from the equipment, wash and dry the device

To ensure that during work the absence of any part does not come as a surprise, we thoroughly study the package and read the installation manual

Both components of the complex can be placed on the right or left. You need to immediately decide on which side the most popular device will be located. Please note that there must be anti-slip strips on the back side of the mounting plate; they must be in contact with the toilet

We decided that the hygienic shower would be on the left, and the device for controlling the bidet attachment on the right. Installed the shower bar onto the toilet

Let's get acquainted with the equipment and installation instructions included with the bidet pad of the complex

We place the base of the bidet lining on top of the metal mounting plate, trying to ensure that the nozzle is installed directly in the center of the toilet

Having selected the optimal place for both components of the hygienic complex, we move the moving parts of the lining fastening to align the mounting holes

We thread the toilet seat mounting screws through the mounting holes of both parts of the kit. Having aligned the complex and the lid, we fix the position of all devices by screwing the nuts onto the screws from the bottom of the toilet

Step 1: Preparing the toilet for installation of the hygienic complex

Step 2: Getting to know the equipment

Step 3: Selecting the Side to Mount the Shower on

Step 4: Installing the hygienic shower bar

Step 5: Familiarization with the bidet lining package

Step 6: Installing the Bidet Trim Over the Shower Trim

Step 8: Aligning the Device Mounting Holes

Step 8: Putting the Toilet Seat in Place

The bases on which the hygienic devices are located in the non-operating position and the control system for the bidet lid are installed.

Now let's start assembling the mixer and installing it:

Image gallery

We check the complete set of the faucet for the hygienic shower. Mounting nuts, shaped mounting plates and seals must be available

We put the rubber sealing ring on the base of the hygienic shower mixer. The ring should lie exactly in the groove, but with the outer edge slightly “rise” above the plane of the base

We connect the flexible hose to the mixer, following the manufacturer's instructions. A short hose is usually used to connect to a cold line, and a long hose to connect to a hot line.

We first insert a flexible line into the seat on the metal strip, then install the mixer

We fix the position of the mixer on the metal strip with shaped mounting washers. We strive to achieve maximum density in the fastening area

We screw the adapter required to connect the bidet pad and shower head to the metal threaded pipe of the mixer

We assemble a tee, to one side of which a hose with a shower head will be connected, to the second - a hose from a bidet lining

We screw the assembled tee to a threaded metal rod located at the base of the mixer.

Step 9: Checking the Shower Faucet Contents

Step 10: Installing the O-Ring

Step 11: Connecting the flexible hose to the faucet

Step 12: Installing the faucet into the seat

Step 13: Attaching the faucet with mounting plates

Step 14: Screwing the Adapter to the Faucet

Step 15: Assembling the Tee for the Bidet Trim

Step 16: Screwing on the hygiene complex tee

Next, we will assemble and connect the hygienic shower itself, consisting of a bellows hose and a shower head, as well as installing the bidet pad control device:

Image gallery

Having placed one of the outlets of the bellows hose to the faucet on the sink, open the tap and check for leaks

After checking for leaks, screw the bellows hose to the shower head, not forgetting to put the gasket in the connection

We place the assembled hygienic shower head in the hole intended for it in the metal bar

We screw a bellows hose with a watering can to the end pipe of the tee connected from below to the mixer

We connect the tube from the bidet lining to the side branch of the tee, through which water mixed in the mixer will be supplied to the device

We fix the tube with a nut, not forgetting to wrap the thread with plumbing thread before doing this

On the other side, we connect the tube to a device that regulates the supply of water to the bidet pad

We tighten the nut that ensures the tightness of the connection between the tube and the bidet control device until it stops, but without applying excessive force, so as not to damage the system parts.

Today, such plumbing equipment as a hygienic shower in the toilet does not surprise anyone. What is more puzzling is how they managed without it before. But there is an explanation for this: plastic and propylene pipes, fittings, faucets without spouts have appeared on the market relatively recently. With cast iron pipes it was much more difficult to create a hygienic shower in the toilet.

The purpose of a hygienic shower is clear to everyone. It is necessary for washing intimate places in order to maintain personal hygiene. Since it will be used frequently, the design of this equipment must be approached with the utmost seriousness.

A hygienic shower consists of the following elements:

  • mixer without spout (single-lever or double-lever);
  • watering cans;
  • flexible hose;
  • watering can holder.

Some sources consider a bidet or a toilet with a bidet function as a hygienic shower. However, this does not seem correct. A bidet and a toilet with a bidet function are independent sanitary equipment that allows you to perform personal hygiene procedures.

A shower, whether hygienic or otherwise, requires a watering can, a flexible hose and a mixer. Only such a set of equipment can be called a “shower”. Therefore, it is this that is considered further.

But there are also faucets that are installed directly into the toilet lid. These designs always provide one of two possible control methods: manual or electronic. Models of the second type are more modern and more expensive. A hygienic shower for a toilet with a mixer can be purchased separately and installed independently.

Choosing an installation location

A shower for personal hygiene should be installed where its use will be most convenient: in close proximity to the toilet. For a left-hander this will be the left side, for a right-hander it will be the right. But not necessarily. It is rare to find families in which all members of the household are left-handed. Therefore, personal hygiene equipment is traditionally installed so that it can be easily reached with the right hand.

An important criterion for choosing a location is height. Here you need to take into account two factors at once: the position of the mixer and the watering can. Both will be used when performing personal hygiene procedures. The optimal height for installing a hygienic shower in a toilet is as follows:

  • mixer – at the level of the upper part of the forearm of the right hand (with the body position “sitting on the toilet”);
  • watering can - to the right or left of it so that its holder is at the same level with the horizontal axis of the mixer.

This is the standard arrangement of shower elements on the toilet wall. Depending on the selected equipment configuration and the availability of free space, their location can be changed for reasons of ease of use.

Models of shower equipment for personal hygiene

Manufacturers of sanitary equipment offer a wide selection of models of shower equipment. You can buy a ready-made kit or assemble it yourself, according to your preferences for design and functionality.

Installing a hygienic shower in a toilet is impossible without cups (reflectors), which are used to hide the connection points to the water supply pipes. This must be taken into account when choosing a mixer. Each of them comes with cups. But the size (diameter) may not fit specific connection points if for some reason there are defects near them. The most common of these is chipped ceramic tiles.

Faucet selection

The mixer for a hygienic shower in the toilet can be single-lever or double-lever. There are no strict guidelines regarding this criterion. Everyone chooses the most convenient option for themselves. But it would be useful to consider the advantages of different types of mixers.

What's good about single levers:

  • all manipulations are performed with one handle;
  • It takes less time to perform personal hygiene procedures.

Double-lever ones are good because you can choose a model with a wider cavity volume for mixing water. This way you can quickly “catch” a comfortable temperature. Those who regularly use single-lever pumps know that they have one drawback: it is not always possible to quickly find a handle position that will allow water to flow at the desired temperature.

Advantages of faucets with thermostat

Today there are the most modern types of mixers: with a thermostat (thermostat). They can be either with one control lever or with two. Mixers of this type allow you to set a comfortable water temperature once and will maintain it constantly.

Therefore, there is no need to spend time and effort searching for the optimal position of the levers. In addition, there is one more “plus”: by opening the tap, the child will not get scalded by too hot water.

If a mixer with a thermostat is selected for the shower device, it can be separated from the watering can over a considerable distance. The fact is that equipment with a thermostat allows you to set a comfortable temperature and water pressure once. Which will continue to support us in the future.

Selecting a watering can and flexible hose

The watering can and flexible hose can be purchased separately or as a set. It's better to choose the second option. Basic requirements for these shower elements:

  • tightness of connections between each other;
  • anti-corrosion;
  • ease of use;
  • attractive appearance.

For a hygienic shower, it does not make sense to buy a long flexible hose. A fairly short one is 1.25 m. This is the standard length for shower sets of this type.

Options for installing a hygienic shower in a toilet

You need to think about how a hygienic shower in the toilet will be arranged at the stage of laying pipes (if this is a new building) and choosing a place to install it (if this is a used home). There are three options for installing a hygienic shower:

  1. Open.
  2. Closed.
  3. Connection to the sink.

Second: a hygienic shower with a hidden-mounted thermostat, the most complex, as it requires cutting the wall and laying pipes in the appropriate recesses. The first one is simpler in connection technology, but less attractive from an aesthetic point of view.

However, it is most often chosen when installing hygienic equipment in already inhabited premises. Not wanting to destroy the external tile finish, the owners simply extend the pipes to the desired location and connect the mixer to them. If desired, the installation site can be masked using a plasterboard box.

Therefore, how to connect a hygienic shower in the toilet is chosen based on various considerations:

  • practicality;
  • efficiency;
  • installation speed;
  • ease of use.

Sink connection

Installing a hygienic shower in a toilet by connecting it to a sink is both simple and complicated at the same time. It all depends on how open access is to the pipes of the water supply system and whether the toilet already has a working sink.

If there is none, it is installed simultaneously with a hygienic shower as follows:

  • choose a place for the sink and watering can, mark it on the wall;
  • determine how the pipes will be laid and make grooves in these places;
  • lay the pipes so that there are two connection points: hot and cold water;
  • determine the location of the sink and install it;
  • cover the grooves with cement-sand mortar, plaster mixture or tile adhesive;
  • connect the sink outlet to the sewerage system;
  • install a faucet on the sink, which should have a separate outlet for connecting a flexible hose;
  • connect a flexible hose to the mixer;
  • in a predetermined place, holes are drilled on the wall to install the watering can holder;
  • install the holder;
  • connect the watering can to a flexible hose and install it in the holder.

But not every toilet in modern apartments has enough space to install a sink. For this reason, other options for creating a hygienic shower are used.

Connection to an existing water supply system

In used toilets, water and sewer pipes are hidden by building plasterboard boxes. To install a hygienic shower, this external protection will have to be dismantled. Then proceed as follows:

  • turn off the taps that regulate the supply of hot and cold water;
  • select the insertion points for the tees and install them;
  • choose a method for laying pipes and install them, having previously connected them to the tees;
  • wrap the threaded connections of the mixer with plumbing linen and/or fluoroplastic fum tape;
  • install the mixer;
  • connect a flexible hose to it;
  • install the holder on the wall;
  • connect a flexible hose to a watering can.

In this installation method, the main difficulty will be the installation of pipes. They can be laid open or closed. But regardless of the installation option, special attention is paid to the tightness of the connections.

Instead of two tees, you can install only one: on the hot water pipe. And connect to cold water from the outlet to the toilet. Sometimes this installation will be most convenient. The connection option is selected based on the characteristics of pipe routing and plumbing connections in a particular room.

If you take your time and carefully consider every step, installing a hygienic shower in the toilet will not cause any particular difficulties. Properly installed equipment will serve well for many years.

What can you come up with if you need a bidet in the bathroom, but there is nowhere to put it? A good option is a hygienic shower. It can be installed next to the toilet and then this popular piece of sanitaryware will also become a bidet. What needs to be taken into account in order to correctly install a hygienic shower in the bathroom?

Hygienic shower location

The specifics of using such a piece of equipment in a bathroom or toilet room presuppose quite stringent requirements for its placement. And the first of them concerns the question at what height to hang a hygienic shower. Usually it is not placed very high, since it is used not only for its intended purpose - for performing hygienic and medical procedures, but also for cleaning the toilet, for filling containers with water, for example, during cleaning, putting shoes in order, dog paws after a walk, washing children's potty, cat litter box and so on. Experts believe that the optimal height for installing a hygienic shower in a toilet is about 80-85 cm from the floor. At the same time, it should be at arm’s length and, accordingly, with the right hand from the person sitting on the toilet, if the calculation is right-handed. Only in this case will the use of this equipment be as convenient as possible. Especially if the installation of a hygienic shower is dictated by the recommendations of a doctor and for medical reasons (doctors recommend water procedures, for example, in the event of diseases of the rectum or gynecological problems).

Depending on the reasons for the appearance of a hygienic shower in the house, it can be installed both in the bathtub and in the toilet, and connected to the bathtub, the toilet, the sink, and the riser. This equipment for hygienic and medical procedures will be a good help when caring for seriously ill people or when there are small children in the family.

Installation work

A standard set of hygienic shower consists of a shower head with a button or lever to turn on the water supply, a hose, a wall holder on which the shower head is hung, and a mixer. Installing a hygienic shower in a toilet involves several installation options.

First option. The easiest way is to connect such a system to the sink. But this is only possible if the hygienic shower is planned to be installed in a combined bathroom, or when there is enough space in the toilet to place a sink next to the toilet, and there should be a small distance between them. In this case, the watering can be placed between the sink and the toilet by fixing the holder for it on the wall, directly on the sink or above it. The latter option is even more convenient, since droplets of water will remain in the sink and not drip onto the floor. For this installation option, you only need to purchase a hygienic shower head and a holder, and then combine this system with the sink faucet. True, in this case the mixer must have a special outlet for a hygienic shower. If the installed faucet does not have such an outlet, then you will have to replace the faucet when installing a hygienic shower so that it meets the requirements.

Second option. It is suitable for installing a hygienic shower in a toilet where only the toilet is located. A fairly simple installation method, you just need to decide how to place the hygienic shower in relation to the toilet. There may be several solutions. Firstly, such a shower can be installed on the same wall near which the toilet is installed, then to use it you will have to turn around, since the object you are looking for will be behind your back. Secondly, it can be placed on the wall on the right or left (whichever is more convenient). Thirdly, on the wall opposite the toilet, if it does not contain a doorway and is close enough for the watering can to easily reach the toilet bowl. It makes sense to weigh the pros and cons and find the optimal location, after which you need to supply water to it and connect the mixer. The list of works essentially differs little from the installation of a conventional wall-mounted mixer, which is installed on hot and cold water supply pipes connected to the installation site. The best way to demonstrate how to install a hygienic shower in a toilet is a video. Numerous craftsmen readily share their experience. Here is one version of a video that tells how to install a hygienic shower in a toilet.

Third option. The so-called hidden or built-in installation method, when all the water supply is hidden in the wall, and only a watering can with a hose and a control panel remain on the surface, is perhaps the most aesthetically pleasing. But it will take longer to tinker with installation. You can hide the water supply pipes either behind a plasterboard false wall, which will invariably “eat up” the area of the already small bathroom space, or in grooves, which is more convenient to do during a major renovation of the room.

    If you do not plan to cover the wall with plasterboard, then a recess must be made in the wall at the installation site for the mixer installation box. The most accurate way to achieve this is to use a crown of the required size.

    Install the installation box, firmly securing it to the wall, and mount the functional part of the mixer. Next, lay the water supply pipes in the grooves. Connect the system, first turning off the water supply.

    Check the tightness of all connections.

    Plaster the grooves, level and putty the walls.

    Attach a holder for a hygienic shower head to the wall.

    Cover the outlets of the mixer pipes with a decorative panel.

    Connect a flexible hose to the mixer, connecting it to a watering can.

Fourth option. You can connect a hygienic shower directly to the toilet and even provide for attaching a holder to it. But in this case, special wiring is required.

Fifth option. Installing a hygienic shower with a thermostat will make using it more convenient and economical. The installation method itself differs little from the wall and hidden mounting suggested above. True, a special outlet must be provided in the built-in mixer. This is a metal element into which water flows. The hose is connected to it. By the way, when choosing a mixer with a thermostat, pay attention to the fact that there are models of hygienic showers where this outlet also serves as a holder for a watering can. Convenient, wouldn't you agree?

Please note!

  • Decide on the place and method of installing a hygienic shower before purchasing a specific model, since each model provides for certain installation conditions that you may not have.
  • Some models are designed to connect to one pipe, which is also worth paying attention to.
  • Experts point out that faucets made of brass are more reliable than models made of silumin.
  • The determining point is the length of the connecting hose, since when using a hygienic shower it should not reach the toilet bowl by tension.
  • If you are willing to overpay a little for comfort, then it is better to purchase a model with a thermostat.
  • In some showers, you have to constantly press the water on button during use, while others are equipped with latches that are much more convenient.
  • When installing a shower equipped with a thermostat, as well as when installing a shower on a sink, you should ensure that the watering can and hose are not constantly under pressure, and therefore the water on the mixer and thermostat must be turned off. Otherwise, the watering can will quickly fail.
