New Year's decoration of large windows. DIY New Year's paper curtains

Glad to see you on the blog pages)

I really love decorating the house for the New Year, and you probably do too, otherwise you wouldn’t be interested in this article))

There are many options for decoration and places for this in the house, today I suggest you learn more about window decoration for the New Year.

It seems to me that when you decorate a window with New Year’s paraphernalia, and then look through it at the street, then all these snowflakes, tinsel, glowing garlands not only add festiveness, but also bring an additional touch of magic and fabulousness.

You look and understand - it’s a miracle :)

There are not so few design methods, I have broken them down into points for convenience, I haven’t used them all myself yet, I haven’t tried drawing on glass, for example, I’m not much of an artist, although thanks to stencils, which are apparently not visible now, perhaps I will dare )

In general, I suggest choosing a decoration option, or maybe several, that suits your liking and taste.

Window decoration for the New Year

Paper snowflakes, cutting templates

The oldest and most famous method is decorating with snowflakes. It seems simple, not a new method, but it’s so beautiful.

This is correctly called decoration with vytanankas; this includes not only snowflakes, but also various other figures cut out of paper.

Let's look at other New Year's figures in the next paragraph, but now just about snowflakes. Because cutting them out is more difficult, and this process is more creative than designing ready-made templates.

It’s amazing how much paper I ruined as a child while making something that vaguely resembled snowflakes; they looked more like they were cut out with a hatchet than cut out with scissors 😉

But then there were simply no paper snowflake templates that exist now, looking at them, all you have to do is fold the paper correctly and cut it out in the right places.

Paper snowflakes, templates for cutting.

Now you can download snowflake templates that do not need to be folded and cut out, but printed and cut along the marked lines. In my opinion, the labor costs are the same, but there is less pleasure and expectation of “what will happen”) but here, as they say, it comes down to taste and color...

New Year's symbols and paper compositions

The result is beauty - you can’t take your eyes off it))

Compositions made from New Year's symbols together with the same snowflakes look especially beautiful.

I tried this method especially actively last year. At first it seemed to me that cutting out such small details would be a long and tedious procedure, but no, everything went perfectly. The main thing is to choose free time and combine carving with watching your favorite New Year’s movie, plus involve all family members in making vytynankas 😉

Paper decorations are attached to the window either with a soap solution or with tape. I am definitely in favor of tape because if you carefully glue thin strips of tape, then after the holidays you can also carefully peel them off and save them for next year)) and then cut out new ones next year.

Last year we made different vytynankas, but these were the ones I especially liked.

This one was my favorite))

But I saw something similar to this on someone’s window, it looked very festive and magical, I liked it so much, but I couldn’t find a stencil.

This year I found something similar and am sharing it.

I’ve just picked out these decorations for windows for the New Year, there are stencils of varying complexity, it’s easier to trust the younger children to cut them out, but leave the older ones and yourself with the more labor-intensive “works.”

I’m also very impressed by the houses made of paper; from the street side they look so cozy thanks to the luminous windows.

Stickers

This option is especially suitable if you don’t have time to cut it out, this also happens, and try cutting it out for all the windows)) And stickers are quick, colorful and elegant.

You can sew New Year's curtains with your own hands using festive fabric with a themed pattern. At the same time, there is no need to make a complex cut, because the main thing in such curtains is color, pattern, theme. You can decorate ready-made curtains with homemade decor or garlands, or purchase ready-made New Year's curtains. But there are a lot of options for what curtains can be.

It is not always possible to purchase or sew new “clothes” for the window; in this case, festive decor comes to the rescue. To make New Year's curtains out of ordinary curtains, there are several clever tricks.

How to decorate regular curtains:

  • Christmas decorations. Who said that their place is only on the Christmas tree? Try hanging simple Christmas tree balls on thin satin ribbons, and fix them in any way on the cornice or curtains. One such row - and the curtains automatically become festive.
  • Glowing garlands. This method will not surprise anyone, but there is one caveat. Many people think that the more lights, the more colors, the more spectacular the window looks. In fact, another point is important - the design of the light bulb attachment and how exactly the garland is hung. On thin curtains, light and transparent, you can hang just three vertical rows of garlands with infrequent star spacing - and this will be more convincing and touching than a sea of lights.
  • Homemade garlands. It’s hard to imagine children’s parties without homemade garlands, and why? You can make them with your own hands, using, for example, decorated deer cut out of red cardboard. With a certain step, pull them on a thick red thread and hang them on the window. Red deer will immediately create a New Year's mood. But the garland can also be made of cotton wool, felt gloves, snowmen and Christmas trees, etc.
  • Snowflake curtains. You can, of course, make string curtains with snowflakes strung on them. But there is another proposal - a lambrequin made of snowflakes. It can be knitted, but you just need to start early, in the fall. You can cut out snowflakes from paper and stitch them, creating a separate narrow rectangle that will be secured like a lambrequin.

Let the decorations go on the curtains in the kitchen and bedroom, because not only the living room needs a holiday. Use homemade pendants in the form of Christmas fairies, ballerina snowflakes, winter owls, etc.

New Year's curtains in the interior (photo)

New Year's window decor perfectly complements the traditional Christmas tree; this decoration looks very harmonious both in an apartment and in a country house. Children are especially sensitive to window decorations; you will agree that the feeling of a fairy tale and New Year's mood are necessary attributes for the New Year. In today’s article, we decided to talk about several ideas on how you can decorate the windows in your apartment in an original and quick way.

Idea No. 1. Artificial snow patterns

You will need:

  1. cut out snowflake
  2. artificial snow can

Step 1

Glue the snowflakes to the glass on the water, carefully straighten the creases of the paper. Water will drain from the snowflakes, blot it with a rag.

Step 2

To make most of the window transparent, apply a little water to it with a sprayer.

Step 3

We apply artificial spray snow on top of the snowflakes. Wait a few minutes for everything to dry and peel off the paper snowflakes. Thus, even if there is no snow outside the window, you will have both snowflakes and imitation of falling snow at home.

3

Instead of snowflakes, you can use any other paper cutouts in the shape of snowmen, fir trees, deer and other symbols of the New Year or Christmas.

At the end of the holidays, artificial snow can be easily removed from the surface of the window using a damp cloth.

Idea No. 2. Paper snowflakes

All kinds of New Year's attributes, such as snowflakes, stars, Christmas trees, help create a festive atmosphere in the apartment. Experiment with color and shape, don’t be afraid to make your New Year’s decor bright and noticeable, because it will only last on the windows for a few weeks before you get tired of it.

5

If there is a child in the house, then all kinds of snowflakes and stars can be cut out with the baby; for this you need colored paper, safe children's scissors and imagination.

2

Idea No. 3. New Year's decorations on curtains

If the previous two ideas do not suit you because after them a new task arises - washing windows, then the option of decorating curtains does not require subsequent cleaning.

Hang several Christmas tree balls, secured together with ribbon, from the cornice - this simple and laconic decor will look great in the bedroom or living room.

2

You can also make a curtain tieback from New Year's toys and satin ribbon. The undeniable advantage of this decor option is that such decorations are very easy to remove and hide until the next New Year.

If you have a long garland with original hanging elements, hang it along the cornice. Such an improvised “lambrequin” will give the room a festive look.

3

Idea No. 4. New Year's toys, pine needles and garlands

Completely different garlands are suitable for decorations; if desired, you can make them yourself: or.

Another interesting option for window decorations is Christmas tree balls suspended on a satin or any other ribbon/thread or fishing line from the cornice. Please note that such pendants look best when they are located at different heights in relation to the window sill - the “chaotic” effect only enhances this composition. If you have a radiator under your window, the balls will sway a little from the influx of warm air.

Idea No. 5. Gouache painting

Experiment and use bright colors by painting Christmas trees, Santa Claus, snowdrifts, and snowmen on the windows of your child’s room. The process of drawing on windows is so exciting that you just need to involve children in it - they will really like it.

Carefully choose paints; the most common gouache, finger paints for children's creativity and acrylic paints that can be washed off with water will do. The intended design is applied to the glass and painted.

1

If you do not have special artistic talents, you can apply patterns with paint through a stencil. To do this, you need to buy special stencils for drawing on windows (they are always sold in departments with New Year's decor) or make such cuttings with your own hands (for this it is better to use thick paper so that the stencil can be used several times).

Using the same paints as for painting with a brush, a sponge and a stencil, you can create a beautiful window decoration for the holidays.

6

Idea No. 6. New Year's wreaths on the windows

New Year's toys and pine branches will also help decorate the house on the eve of the New Year; these can be Christmas wreaths or just small pine bouquets hung by ribbons from the window opening. Take care to choose a beautiful tape for fastening such coniferous compositions - they can match the color scheme of the windows, textiles in the room, the color of the walls or furniture.

Transparent snowflakes from hot melt adhesive or PVA for windows (templates and stencils)

I'll tell you in more detail later. Now there is one idea that, in the context of the whole topic, will show how beautiful this decoration looks and how quickly it can be made.

You will need:

  • Stencils;
  • Baking paper (or simple tracing paper);
  • Glue gun;
  • Scotch.

How to do:

  • Place tracing paper on the stencil.
  • Using a glue gun, repeat the contours of the snowflake on tracing paper.
  • Peel off the snowflake.
  • Secure the craft to the glass with tape.

Snowflakes turn out like crystal!

By the way, you can make a pattern from snowflakes of different shapes and sizes. For example, a Christmas tree or a snowflake covering the entire window. Stencils will help you - enlarge by clicking:

You can glue such paper crafts to glass in different ways:

  • For water (if from napkins);

Bells on a ribbon.

Garland of balls

Tie the bells with knots at a short distance from each other. Make several such threads.

Snowmen from krokotak, or rather a garland of snowmen.

It’s very simple to make - print out the snowman or trace it along the outline. The template is two in one, depending on how you fold the top.

We fold one snowman so that it becomes a hat on his head, the other so that it becomes headphones, we instruct the children to color it and hang the snowmen on a rope.

Cotton balls on fishing line.

Roll cotton wool into balls. String on fishing line or thread. I wonder if the balls will be different sizes. They can be alternated with snowflakes.

These include cones, fir branches and much more, for example, balls.

Making:

  • Quietly place several sheets of thin paper on top of each other.
  • Fold all layers of paper like an accordion. The width of the strip is of your choice and depends on the diameter of the ball.
  • Tie this accordion in the middle with thread.
  • Trim (straighten) and round the edges.
  • Lift each layer one by one and straighten it. Raise half the layers up.
  • Then turn the craft over. Straighten the second half of the sheets in the other direction.
  • You will get a ball.
  • Hang it on the window.

Origami snowflakes.

Pointeness.

A beautiful and bright Christmas flower will look very original both on the windows and on the Christmas tree as a toy.

Stencils for inscriptions and numbers

I will share an observation from the last New Year. Residents of one apartment posted the following wish on their window: “Everyone! Total!". You know, as they say, it’s a small thing, but it’s nice!

Congratulation templates:

You can print any letters and hang them as a congratulatory text. You can cut out all the patterns and you will get a vytynanka.

It is convenient to cut with a stationery knife. Print out the template and place a blank A4 sheet underneath it. Fix both sheets with tape to the table and use a knife to cut out all the patterns inside on the template, then the general outline, under the template you get a sheet with a finished protrusion.
