How to make a box with your own hands from tape. Boxes made from tape reels

There are many ways to make boxes on the Internet. They can be made from wood, cardboard, beads, plywood. But this is too hackneyed, so in this article we will try to make a box from a material that is a little unusual for the average person - from a reel of adhesive tape. This method is very simple and interesting. Therefore, let's quickly look at the process of creating a box from a reel of adhesive tape.

Simple and clear

Making this type of box is very quick and simple, as you will see after reading this master class.

To work, you will need an empty reel of tape 5 cm high, corrugated cardboard, two sheets of scrapbooking paper 30*30 m, a figured hole punch, PVA, double-sided tape. You can also use felt and lace for future decoration of the box.

First of all, we draw a couple of circles on thick cardboard. Then you need to cut out four circles from scrap paper.

One pair of circles will serve as the bottom, and the second will serve as the lid.

We cut out a couple of long rectangles on scrap paper, the length of which is equal to the size of the outer and inner circumference of the tape reel. It is also worth making a small margin for height. You can make small cuts along the entire length of the strip.

You need to glue the scrap paper onto the tape reel on the inside, then on the front. It is best to make a box using a reel of double-sided tape.

Take one circle of white scrap paper and glue it onto one piece that was intended for the bottom. Then you need to glue the bottom to the tape reel. The cloves that remain as an allowance for height should be glued to the bottom from the outside. It is worth gluing a circle of beautiful multi-colored paper to the top.

Now it’s time to make a lid for our box. In this article we will provide you with two ideas.

Take a circle of corrugated cardboard and glue paper circles to it on both sides. One of them should be cut with a small margin. Do it as shown in the photo. Next, you need to cut out the circumference of the lid, the height of which is equal to a couple of cm. Any of the edges must be processed with a hole punch or cut out yourself. Place the circle on the box and glue a paper strip to it. Thanks to this method, the lid will fit tightly to the main body of the box.

For this method, the first step is to cut a strip from the reel, the height of which is 0.5 cm. It is this strip that will serve as the basis for the lid. You need to glue beautiful decorative cardboard to the top and on the sides. You can glue lace on the side parts.

Decorating the product

In this article we offer you examples of materials that can be used to decorate the resulting box.

For example, paper. You can make flowers or applique from this material.

The second material for decoration can be beads and beads.

You can also use any type of fabric to decorate boxes made from tape reels.

Another material for decoration can be satin or other types of ribbons.

You can also decorate the box with twine, three-dimensional figures of various animals, flowers, polymer clay figures, or metal pendants.

Video on the topic of the article

Watch a selection of videos about making a box from a tape reel with your own hands.

With your own hands you can create a cute and interesting box. You can use it for any jewelry, jewelry, beads, buttons, hairpins. The only limitation can be its size. It doesn’t require any special expenses to create, just a little effort and time. The size of the box depends on the size of the tape reel.

Necessary materials:

  • tape reel;
  • thin cardboard;
  • PVA glue;
  • universal glue;
  • lace;
  • egg shells;
  • satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide;
  • acrylic paint;
  • acrylic lacquer.

Master class: box made from a reel of tape

To work, you need thin cardboard. It is very convenient to use cardboard folders or binders.

Place the bobbin on the cardboard and trace along the inside of the bobbin with a simple pencil.

Cut out a circle. We will need 10-12 such circles (depending on the thickness of the cardboard).

Then we put the reel back on the cardboard and trace it around the outside with a pencil. We also cut out 10-12 circles. Glue together 5 cardboard circles. To do this, grease the circle well with PVA glue and place the second one on it. Lubricate the second one and put in the third one, etc. All blanks must be put under the press until the glue dries completely. It turns out only 4 blanks.

Use very fine sandpaper to sand the side edges well.

We place the bobbin on a large blank, align it and draw it along the inside with a simple pencil. This way we mark the place where we need to glue the smaller piece. We lubricate the smaller workpiece with glue and apply it to the larger workpiece, and put it under the press. We do the same with the second pair of blanks.

When the glue has dried, simply glue the bobbin to one of the blanks. The second blank will serve as a lid for the box. We paint the box and lid with acrylic paint.

It is better to use shells from white eggs. It must first be washed and the inner film removed. Then we simply break it into small pieces and glue it to the side of the box using PVA glue. Leave a small distance between the shell pieces. We cover the box and lid with acrylic varnish, possibly in 2 layers.

Using universal glue, glue two strips of lace to match the color of the box.

To decorate the lid, we make three roses from satin ribbon. We turn the edge of the tape inward 90 degrees and twist it into a tube. Then we bend the tape outward (as if turning it over) and make a turn. Then we bend the tape again and now make half a turn. We continue to do this until we get a rose. Periodically drip a little glue onto the lapel and press it. We burn the edge of the tape with a candle and simply glue it.

Surely every woman has thought more than once about where to store small household items such as buttons, beads, and rings. Of course, you can buy any box you like in the store, but it’s much nicer to make a box for storing small items with your own hands. Who would have thought that from an ordinary reel of tape you could create an original, stylish box for jewelry, buttons, pins or something else.

To work you will need:
a reel of wide tape,
a roll of narrow double-sided tape or masking tape,
pieces of old wallpaper or scrapbooking paper,
thick cardboard,
PVA glue and “Moment”,
scissors, ruler,
lace,
ribbons, beads, large buttons for decoration.

First of all, you need to clean both reels of any remaining tape and paper. Then, placing them on thick cardboard, you need to circle the coils with a pencil to get two circles of the desired size. Cut them out. Subsequently, this will be the bottom and lid of the box.

Measure the width of both reels, and then draw stripes on the wallpaper equal to the circumference of each reel. As a result, you should have two strips per reel. You also need to draw four circles on paper to cover the bottom and roof of the box.

After this, you should cut out all the parts and attach the elements to the base using glue. To fix them, you can use paper clips until the glue dries completely.

As a result, you should have a box with a lid. All unsightly seams can be hidden under lace. You just need to stick it on the joints of paper and cardboard.
To prevent the lid from getting lost over time, you can attach it to the base. To do this, use the same lace. Glue a small piece of it on the outside, and then do the same on the inside of the box.

The craft is ready. All that remains is to decorate it. It all depends on your imagination. Decorate the lid of the box with satin ribbons, beads, and large buttons of unusual shape. If desired, you can use shells, beads, and sparkles.

So, we will need:

1. Tape base

2. Thick cardboard

3. Thick paper (watercolor is fine, but a little thicker is better)

4. Paper for decorating outside

5. Fabric for interior decoration

6. Paper tape

7. Double-sided tape

8. PVA glue

9. Stationery knife, scissors, brush, pencil

Free the base from labels and old tape.

We mark the details, stepping back from the edge 1.5 cm.

VERY CAREFULLY make a cut with a knife through the base and slowly, like bread, cut the base into two parts. It is not simple. Take care of your fingers!

You should get two parts:

At first you may not be able to make straight cuts between the pieces.

Therefore, we simply swap the “seams”, this will make the edges of the box neat:

Having placed the base on the cardboard, trace along the outside with a pencil,

Twice. This will be the lid and bottom.

Another cardboard disk will need to be cut to the inner diameter.

And when applied to thick paper - along the inside...

And the outer edges (*if there is not enough decorative paper).

We also cut out a strip of 4x25 cm from thick paper.

We attach the cardboard disk to the wide part of the future box:

Secure with paper tape.

and glue it tightly, thoroughly and evenly:

We do the same with the “lid”

We cut the free edge of the tape into strips and glue them one by one to the disk.

As a result, you will get these box blanks:

Now cut out two disks from decorative paper and 2 strips

Dimensions 27.5 x 6.5 cm (bottom of the box) 27.5 x 5 (lid)

Coat the base with PVA:

We cover it tightly with paper, gluing it evenly, without bubbles or distortions,

There should be some loose paper left around the edges:

We coat the edge with glue separately and glue it overlapping:

We cut the free edge into strips and coat the edge of the bottom with glue..

Press the strips to the bottom.

Do everything carefully, leaving no gaps or cracks.

It will turn out like this:

Now we coat the inner edge of the box together with the end with glue:

And, in a circle, starting from the place of the cut, we bend it,

At the same time leveling the paper.

We make sure that there are no air bubbles or folds left at the ends:

Everything inside should also be neat,

Although it will still not be visible.

Here it must be said that the thicker your decorative paper,

The larger and larger the folds will be, keep this in mind.

Glue a paper disk to the bottom *

Or (if there is enough material) a disk of decorative paper:

We make the top of the box according to the same principle as the bottom.

Make three cuts on the free edge of the paper

(just not close to the ends!).

We already have the fourth cut)) these are the paper joints.

Coat the inner sides and a little bit of the lid disc with glue.

And, alternately glue all four strips, leveling,

And overlapping the edges one on top of the other.

This will ensure that there are no folds on the edges.

Glue a smaller paper disk inside.

The exterior design is ready.

Now take a strip of paper and another cardboard disk

(1-2 mm less than the inner diameter)

And cut out the fabric parts for them:

We glue double-sided tape to the fabric,

And folding the edges one by one, we cover the cardboard disk with fabric.

We also glue double-sided tape onto the fabric strip.

We bend one edge and it is glued.

Remove the protective film from the tape and stick the paper on.

At the end where it is bent (in the picture on the left) we glue a strip of tape,

There are never too many boxes! But don’t rush to buy ready-made souvenirs in stores; try to master a simple technique for decorating unnecessary items.

In this master class you will learn how to make a box with your own hands from tape rolls. A simple but very effective napkin technique was used for decoration. The cost of the craft is so low that the finished work can be obtained almost free of charge. This cute box will be a wonderful storage for jewelry, and will also be suitable as a gift to a friend, sister or mother.

Budget set of materials

To make a box from tape sleeves you will need:

Cylindrical bushings – 2 pcs.;
thick cardboard;
beautiful paper napkins;
glue, preferably PVA;
pearlescent eyeshadow;
decorative beads;
braid 1 cm;
varnish;
watercolor;
brush.

Stages of making a box

After using the tape, dense cardboard cylinders of different diameters and widths remain. In this case, you should stock up on a base of wide and narrow tape of the same diameter. The body of the box will be made from a wide sleeve, and a convenient lid will be made from a narrow sleeve. Both of them must be coated with a primer made from white paint mixed with PVA.

For the bottom and top of the lid, it is necessary to cut out circles from thick cardboard with a diameter larger than the cylinders themselves, approximately 0.5 cm. They should also be primed with white paint and glue.

Each of the parts needs to be covered with a thick layer of creamy glue and decorative napkins should be placed on this layer, taking only the very top part for work, as for. It's better to glue it in scraps. When thin paper comes into contact with glue, it acquires a beautiful wrinkled surface. Repeat the operation with all parts separately and let dry.

Connect the parts together using glue, forming a body and a lid. Place under a press and dry. Connect the lid and body with a piece of tape, gluing it to both parts. The result is an element that performs the functions of a hinge. For another option for making bushings, see.

Place the beads on the glue along the protruding edges of the circles of the bottom and lid. Don't spare glue. Since the goal is to make a vintage box, the surface needs to be visually aged. Pearlescent shadows, which often remain unused in a palette with many shades, cope best with this task. Their advantage is a wide selection of colors. It is better to use several tones at once and you can simply apply them with your finger.

Excessively bright gold beads also need to be made less shiny. The primer that was used to cover the entire box will serve its purpose here as well. The second layer is applied pearlescent powder from shadows, diluted with glue.
